Hopstretch Posted December 13, 2019 Report Posted December 13, 2019 Hard to believe they're still squeezing cash out of it, but the less obviously 80s remixes of the Gilmour-era stuff are actually worth a listen. 3
Dusty Chalk Posted December 13, 2019 Report Posted December 13, 2019 Disagree. The post-Waters stuffs is more Pink Floyd than Final Cut or even THE WALL. 2
Hopstretch Posted December 13, 2019 Report Posted December 13, 2019 I'm confused. It's more PINK FLOYD but less worth a listen? 1 1 1
Aura Posted December 13, 2019 Report Posted December 13, 2019 since i just bought tickets to see sleep... Sleep - Sleep's Holy Mountain 1
Torpedo Posted December 13, 2019 Report Posted December 13, 2019 It comes out that this is one of the very few recorded performances by Django Reinhardt. Got to it from this talented guitarist YT channel 4

Oh by the way..... I actually like some of this stuff, I lost interest in the Roger Waters "takeover" albums....... 1
TMoney Posted December 13, 2019 Report Posted December 13, 2019 (edited) I've also been listening to some of their acoustic tracks on Tidal scattered in their various EPs. The acoustic stuff is great. Really makes me wish they would release an entire album of acoustic takes. I've always been a sucker for when they cut it loose. The old Dalton Bros. bit has always been a favorite of mine. Edited December 13, 2019 by TMoney

The Waters takeover albums * are certainly compelling listens, but I much prefer the post-Waters albums. I forget who, but someone called them Waters solo albums with Pink Floyd as the backing band. * Thanks for that, going to call them that from now on.

Except for the Middle, More and DSOTM, I also prefer post-water albums. Moreover, I think that "David Gilmour" for being simpler is better album (more enjoyable) than Animals, The Wall or The Final Cut.
blessingx Posted December 14, 2019 Report Posted December 14, 2019 For those who find Zu Audios demo music at audio shows at least as interesting as their gear, they just issued their albums of the year. Usually alt-heavy, but always worth a try. Starting them and thought you may be interested too. 4
Dusty Chalk Posted December 15, 2019 Report Posted December 15, 2019 Gary Numan with the Skaparis Orchestra, When the Sky Came Down: Live at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester in Master quality on Tidal
Torpedo Posted December 15, 2019 Report Posted December 15, 2019 Enrico Rava & Joe Lovano - Roma To me one of the best jazz releases in 2019. It's available on Tidal and they have that MQA shit as well. 3 1 1
ironbut Posted December 15, 2019 Report Posted December 15, 2019 I love Joe. I'll check it out today.

Dusty Chalk Posted December 15, 2019 Report Posted December 15, 2019 Really digging the Sweet-ness of Honeymoon Disease (and maybe a little bit of Blue Oyster Cult, less the mystical shit). Check out "Calling You": ...or the singles, "Electric Eel" (last track), "Doin It Again" (first track), or "Four Stroke Woman" (right after "Calling You")
skullguise Posted December 17, 2019 Report Posted December 17, 2019 I heart this so much, the ONLY holiday album I can listen to almost any time.....

Dusty Chalk Posted December 17, 2019 Report Posted December 17, 2019 Oh, unholy carp, they have the entirety of Max Richter's Sleep in Master on Tidal. Good night, my friends, see you in the morning. 1

blessingx Posted December 18, 2019 Report Posted December 18, 2019 Been digging the Nuggets from the Moon YT channel recently. Lots of great Xmas music, but right now Bang Bang by Xavier Cugat. 1
HiWire Posted December 18, 2019 Report Posted December 18, 2019 (edited) In the Sun – Jane Monheit Looking forward to trying this DualDisc ? in my Sony UHP-H1. Seems to work ok in an external LaCie DVD-RW drive with the MacBook, but it's probably reverting to lossy audio (Dolby Digital 5.1), not DVD-Audio. Edited December 18, 2019 by HiWire 2
