Dusty Chalk Posted May 23, 2018 Report Posted May 23, 2018 This is the lead song from Karl Bartos' (yes, that Karl Bartos) first solo album, Electric Music. I know what you're thinking -- "WTF?!?!?" It's heavily dosed with Johnny Marr. I can't find my Japanese CD. I really need to hear the whole thing again. Here is more or less the whole album on YouTube. Probably my favourite album from 1998. 2
skullguise Posted May 23, 2018 Report Posted May 23, 2018 ^^^ I have Esperanto, never got this one.....sounds good! 1
Dusty Chalk Posted May 23, 2018 Report Posted May 23, 2018 Esperanto sounded more like Kraftwerk than Kraftwerk did, as did his other albums, Communication and Off the Record. Being synthpop, they definitely have a place in my life, but this one is so shockingly different, it satisfies a completely different itch. That jangle. 1
Dusty Chalk Posted May 25, 2018 Report Posted May 25, 2018 Joana Serrat -- sort of a female Chris Isaak -- she even uses a lyrics that incorporates the words, "wicked games" 1

There's some really painful lyrics to listen to in there: "Baby, I'm afraid But it's not your fault Maybe I should go Home alone tonight" I think I've been there. Not sure I understand the rest of the lyrics in that song, but damn, that one just made me double-take. That Liz Vice album is pretty great, and probably more my thing these days. As much as I like synthpop, the Prass album is a little too pop for me.

Pretty enjoyable and PF influenced. I'm posting the cover, they (AIR) claim it was offered to PF for the Dark Side of the Moon, but they rejected because they wanted to distance themselves from the space theme. 2

Dusty Chalk Posted June 3, 2018 Report Posted June 3, 2018 This fantastic guitarist's Tiny Desk concert, which I helped get them on, by voting for them -- going to see them next week: That was actually last night, not sure why it didn't post. I am now listening to this one, based on the recommendation of a new online friend: 2
Hopstretch Posted June 4, 2018 Report Posted June 4, 2018 Ghost -- Prequelle I liked it a lot, which probably means it's not proper Metal. 1
