HiWire Posted April 17, 2018 Report Posted April 17, 2018 Prodigy Present: The Dirtchamber Sessions, Volume One: 1
shellylh Posted April 17, 2018 Report Posted April 17, 2018 Egberto Gismonti - Solo. Love this album.
TMoney Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 Isaac Hayes - The Spirit Of Memphis (1962-1976). 2
Dusty Chalk Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 Okay, that's not confusing at all: "Southern Gothic prog-rock/proto-metal" band, Whiteside's Daughter, are providing the first act of a rock opera for free, and it's about James, the gay son of an Alabama Pentecostal preacher, who in high school rebels and falls in with John, his ex-Baptist atheist classmate and guitarist for a high school death metal band called Village Witch. http://whitesidesdaughter.com/releases
Dusty Chalk Posted April 21, 2018 Report Posted April 21, 2018 Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds playlist, starting with Skeleton Tree and working my way backwards. Skeleton Tree is intoxicatingly depressing so matching my mood nicely. The weather outside is beautiful, though, hard to stay depressed when it's so temperate. 1
Hopstretch Posted April 22, 2018 Report Posted April 22, 2018 Enjoying this quite a lot more than I expected. Can not claim it's a sober assessment though. 2
dsavitsk Posted April 22, 2018 Report Posted April 22, 2018 I saw Xanadu in the theater when I was 6. And owned the soundtrack.
Kattefjaes Posted April 23, 2018 Report Posted April 23, 2018 (edited) While in truth, I have been listening to Bitches Brew too much lately, what I choose to link is this: It is a dangerous earworm and has been stuck in my head for the last week. Fuck you, Tim Minchin, you talented bastard. Someone else can suffer now. Edited April 23, 2018 by Kattefjaes 1
TMoney Posted April 24, 2018 Report Posted April 24, 2018 Patsy Cline - Greatest Hits Listened to this last night. I've always been a sucker for a great alto voice and Patsy sure was one of the greats. Taken from us way too soon. 2
Kattefjaes Posted April 27, 2018 Report Posted April 27, 2018 Very much looking forward to the new Jon Hopkins album on the 4th of May.
Hopstretch Posted May 7, 2018 Report Posted May 7, 2018 This was introduced to me by my redheaded college girlfriend at the time and always brings back fond recollections of a couple of other things she showed me. But seriously, how can 1993 be a QUARTER OF A CENTURY ago? Some of it is now a bit close to the bone as an old guy. Quote All your life is such a shame, shame, shame. All your love is just a dream, dream, dream.Open up your eyes, you can see the flames, flames, flamesOf your wasted life. You should be ashamed. 2

Some of it is now a bit close to the bone as an old guy. Even more seriously, how could I have been 40 then? And you're right, those lyrics hit hard. Edit: Thinking about this made me feel real old. So I decided to rock out on: Lover's Waltz by Jay Ungar and Molly Mason and Putamayo Presents, Tango Around the World I feel much better now. Edited May 7, 2018 by guzziguy
Hopstretch Posted May 7, 2018 Report Posted May 7, 2018 Sorry that was heavier than intended -- blame Sunday Night Syndrome! I'm now committed to 1993, so: The Verve -- A Storm In Heaven Such space-y goodness. 2
mypasswordis Posted May 7, 2018 Report Posted May 7, 2018 Here's some more SNS material! One of the best with which to ponder existence. 4
Dusty Chalk Posted May 8, 2018 Report Posted May 8, 2018 I'm done pining, but I still really like the song Again by Archive -- it's like a cross between Pink Floyd (Dogs-ish) and late era Talk Talk (especially with the harmonica solos). That said, I've been mostly listening to Gabriel Le Mar. It's almost as good as a night of Testtone. Oh, and this happy shit: https://pentagramhomevideo.bandcamp.com/album/the-satanic-path-2 No, seriously, listen to this, it's actually really pretty: https://pentagramhomevideo.bandcamp.com/track/slumber-2015
