Dusty Chalk Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 Thanks for the reminder (wanders off to buy Notes Falling Slow -- which turned out to be surprisingly cheap [US$16 for a box set worth of music] for lossless download version from their website...hour download though). In the meantime: 1

swt61 Posted September 19, 2016 Report Posted September 19, 2016 Going to work a little later than usual, so more New Wave. This time letting Nick Heyward take me back to the beginning... 4

Voltron Posted September 20, 2016 Author Report Posted September 20, 2016 I need to name a pet Leroy Vinnegar.
EdipisReks1 Posted September 20, 2016 Report Posted September 20, 2016 Great name for a pet prairie dog.
Torpedo Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Macy Gray : “Stripped” (Chesky Records, 2016) https://open.spotify.com/album/4mWblXjBpl7QjsjcVGq0hT Macy Gray (vocals) Wallace Roney (trumpet) Ari Hoenig (drums) Daryl Johns (double bass) Russell Malone (guitar) Enjoying it a lot, unexpected output for a R&B artist. 3
Hopstretch Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Is my favorite poet of middle age and regret. 1
swt61 Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 In a similar vein, I've been in a Guy Clark mood today.

Voltron Posted September 22, 2016 Author Report Posted September 22, 2016 Nels Cline -- Lovers Lots of people will like this record, but I think @blessingx should definitely give it a listen. I'm going to see it live in the Spring at SFJazz, so other locals should check it out to see if they want to join in... 2
CarlSeibert Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 Ana Popovich with her dad. Pretty cool for Ana fans.http://tidal.com/album/44564503
Dusty Chalk Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 Cardiacs, Sing to God -- unholy carp, this is gloriously mental.
Dusty Chalk Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 Shape of Despair, Monotony Fields -- a nice return to form after Illusions's Play (2004 album that followed the epic Shades of... and Angels of Distress) and Shape of Despair (2005 album). There's also Written in My Scars EP which I will have to check out, but it's not on their bandcamp. And apparently they have a first album/demo, Alone in the Mist. Doom Metal -- the slowest, most funereal doom metal. Spine-tinglingly great. EDIT: Oh, okay, it (Alone in the Mist) is by a previous incarnation, "Raven": 1
EdipisReks1 Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 (edited) Houses of the Holy. Not my pic, but a NM of the same pressing. Edited September 23, 2016 by EdipisReks1 4
Craig Sawyers Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 ^I have the original vinyl. The cover still shocks - I cannot imagine anyone producing an album cover like that now. Saw them live in '73. 1
cetoole Posted September 24, 2016 Report Posted September 24, 2016 Thanks for the heads up on this Iain. 1
swt61 Posted September 24, 2016 Report Posted September 24, 2016 Am I the only one who doesn't understand why Leon Russell didn't become an absolute super star? He has it all.
