luvdunhill Posted December 4, 2015 Report Posted December 4, 2015 Probably can do half that. I will keep my eyes peeled. So, I got a copy for 21,000¥. If you are interested, then I would actually ask that you receive and keep my copy until next year, as I am leaving in a week for Asia (ironically). We would probably split the shipping, or something like that. So, it's doable to get it for list, PM if interested. Quote

Dusty Chalk Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 https://solace1.bandcamp.com/album/the-ruin-of-ghosts Knucks -- listen to "Bury the Dead Raven" if nothing else -- sounds like something you'd spin (did you realize your genre is "belly dancing music"? Lollers). Quote
HiWire Posted December 11, 2015 Report Posted December 11, 2015 I'm looking forward to picking up the new edition of The Real Thing (hope it's not "loudness"-remastered). I grabbed the MoFi edition of Angel Dust a few months ago and I enjoy it a lot. Quote
Voltron Posted December 14, 2015 Author Report Posted December 14, 2015 The Bad Plus Joshua Redman 24/96 Nice. The show was amazing last night. Josh melded with TBP so, so well. 1 Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 Apparently Snakefarm have a 2011 album! Just finished listening to it -- insta-purchase. Quote

Dusty Chalk Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 Love that album -- have you heard The High Road EP? 1 Quote
HiWire Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 (edited) Thanks! I'll definitely check this out. Seems to be only available on vinyl (Glasgow)... the reviews on the DVD look good, too (seems to be a different recording from France)... I might split the difference and get the Heart Still Beating CD (audio version of the French performance) as well. Edited December 16, 2015 by HiWire Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 Yeah, it's just an EP, so listen to it, decide if it's worth bothering (the above YouTube appears to be the actual vinyl -- I only just learned that about the performances being different, but I grew up on that EP -- that's what got me into later Roxy Music -- so it holds a special place in my heart, and explains why I didn't feel I'd heard those particular performances recently) -- I doubt it, a lot of fondness comes from familiarity, IMHO. I think the other available performances are perfectly good, too, and have grown to like them (just like the difference in sequencing on The Name of this Band is Talking Heads -- I am now quite fond of the CD release). HiWire Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) It's a good performance... well-recorded and stirring. I put a used German pressing (hope it's a decent one) in my shopping cart along with the Talking Heads set. The reviews of the French Roxy performance seem a bit mixed, so I'll wait on that one. Aura Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 Björk - Vulnicura. I must admit I always thought she was too weird for her own good but this album is pretty fascinating and requires additional spins streams. 2 Quote
robm321 Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 ^ Agreed on both accounts. I would steer clear of the all strings version, however. Quote
Aura Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 ...But Nothing Is Lost is one of those albums I revisit maybe once a year and forget how surprisingly good it is. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 Vulnicura is her weirdest album yet. And that's saying something. Quote
HiWire Posted December 19, 2015 Report Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) Shpongle's Nothing Lasts is my favorite album of theirs. The newer ones are good too, but none are quite as sublime as this one. Edited December 19, 2015 by HiWire Quote
