Dusty Chalk Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 Yeah, I need to go back and listen to that again, that was outstanding.
HeadphoneAddict Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 Sigur Rós - 2012 - Valtari One day I discovered that in my iTunes library and didn't recall buying it. It's listed as alternative but seems more like ambient chill kinda music, with angel voices.
Dusty Chalk Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 One day I discovered that in my iTunes library and didn't recall buying it. It's listed as alternative but seems more like ambient chill kinda music, with angel voices. It's called "post-rock", which has a strong legacy in the alternative pop-rock world, but you know, 'alternative' is so vague... I do like the "angel voices" analogy, though. I haven't heard the new one, but of the previous, () is still my favourite.
Dusty Chalk Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 Deftones, Diamond Eyes and Saturday Night Wrist -- I hadn't heard them do Ghosts (Japan cover) before. Me likey.
RudeWolf Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 I used to listen to Deftones when I was 18 or so. It was the hip band that's alternative to Korn, SOAD and other nu-metal players of that time.

Deftones do indeed often get lumped in with Korn, Limp Bizquik, et al, but they are not nu-metal. They are head & shoulders above. #1 - they don't do the rap thing. #2 - they have a bit of a gothy influence.

Synchro Belt Drive Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Ben L'Oncle Soul's album "Live Paris", a bit of a gamble but it sounds good...
Dusty Chalk Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Joss Stone, 3 tracks from Soul Sessions Vol. 2 on SoundCloud. Going back and listening to some back catalog as well.

Synchro Belt Drive Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 Burial's album "Untrue", this is keeping me pleasantly awake. It has been a while since an album was as good as strong as coffee on an empty stomach.
