The Expanding Man Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 My first experience of anything Can post 70's. Nice recording.
The Expanding Man Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Around the world with Phillip Glass:
faust3d Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) German Brain vinyl. If only they stuck with krautrock :/ Great album, the next 3 were also very good, especially "In Trance". But I am very biased as I like all of their stuff up to "Savage Amusement" Now this is a crazy record, I listen to a lot of strange stuff bu this was too much for me. Dusty Chalk Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Al Di Meola, Electric Rendezvous, the remaster -- sublime (breathes sigh of relief)
Voltron Posted January 19, 2011 Author Report Posted January 19, 2011 Gregg Allman -- Low Country Blues
Dusty Chalk Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Al Di Meola, Elegant Gypsy/Casino. BGO remaster(s)
Dusty Chalk Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Al Di Meola, Splendido Hotel, (BGO remaster) such great music
robm321 Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Al Di Meola, Splendido Hotel, (BGO remaster) such great music indeed
Dusty Chalk Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 I love the way it transitions from the jubulence of Spanish Eyes to the mysticism of Isfahan. All the transitions are really wonderful.
Torpedo Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Agusti Fernandez, Baldo Martinez & Ramon Lopez - Triez Interesting Spanish jazz trio.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Al Di Meola, Cielo e Terra / Soaring Through a Dream / Tirami Su -- I actually started seeing him live during this time, so I have a particular fondness for this period. It's when he started eschewing speed for beauty (not that the two are mutually exclusive, but the one was certainly distracting from the other, since he was famous for it).

Did you buy all of the new BGO Al Di Meola remasters? n.p. Derek Bailey, George Lewis & John Zorn - Yankees (1983) Edited January 20, 2011 by faust3d

Dusty Chalk Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 Did you buy all of the new BGO Al Di Meola remasters? Yup. EDIT: And I'm sufficiently happy with them, that I'm going to get a few other things from them (Return to Forever, Stanley Clarke, The Clarke/Duke Project -- I think I already got the Robin Trower ones).
The Expanding Man Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 Surprisingly well played & recorded!
diebenkorn Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 George Benson "Bad Benson" on vinyl (sounds great) of my favs from my jazz guitar days.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 Captain Ahab, "Acting Hard" and "I Don't Have a Dick" from The End of Irony -- free here -- fucking awesome weird uncategorizable stuff. "I Don't Have a Dick" may have the greatest lyrics ever, start with that. Rest of the album available for preview.
Asr Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 (edited) Yup. EDIT: And I'm sufficiently happy with them, that I'm going to get a few other things from them (Return to Forever, Stanley Clarke, The Clarke/Duke Project -- I think I already got the Robin Trower ones). Do you have a link where I can buy these BGO Al Di Meola re-masters? As for what I'm listening to: Carlos Kleiber & Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra - Beethoven Symphonies 5 & 7 Edited January 22, 2011 by Asr
faust3d Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 Do you have a link where I can buy these BGO Al Di Meola re-masters? Amazon has them all and they are cheap as well. I got two twofers so far Splendido Hotel/Electric Rendezvous and Elegant Gypsy/Casino both are very nice, better than Colombia CD I used to have.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 Do you have a link where I can buy these BGO Al Di Meola re-masters? Sure: Splendido Hotel/Electric Rendezvous Elegant Gypsy/Casino Cielo e Terra/Soaring Through a Dream/Tirami Su The middle one is one disk, the other two are two-disk sets, hence the price differential. I used MovieMars-CDs, since (a) I've used them before and like them, and (b ) there is a slight price break on shipping, depending on the vendor.
The Expanding Man Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 A very pleasant night of eighties synth pop on vinyl: Prince, Sign of the Times:
