They seem to draw the conclusion that looking at pictures of cute cats leads to improved work performance. My theory is that pictures of cute cats just make for a better reward, and it's the "better reward" that led to improved work performance. I bet if it was cute cats vs. rent money, the people getting rent money would do better.
