Voltron Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 True enough for most alcohol, but I think rye needs a kick and 80 proof just don't kick anymore.
jvlgato Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Duvel. In a Duvel glass laser etched with a D on the bottom to keep the head up. (Insert joke here) Kinda cool.
grawk Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 A redbreast manhattan, whatever that might rightfully be called. 2:1 redbreast 12 to dry vermouth, 2 dashes of blood orange bitters, 2 of angostura, and a cherry
Absorbine_Sr Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 A redbreast manhattan, whatever that might rightfully be called. 2:1 redbreast 12 to dry vermouth, 2 dashes of blood orange bitters, 2 of angostura, and a cherry I may have to do that next. For now:
Absorbine_Sr Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 (edited) Substituted orange bitters for blood orange bitters, but otherwise the same. Thanks for the recommendation. Edited March 16, 2011 by Absorbine_Sr
shellylh Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 (edited) You look a lot happier with the Irish Manhattan! *Anvil* Collins (Tom) 2 oz Citadelle Reserve gin 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice 1 tsp agave syrup Top with Pellegrino sparkling water Not too exciting... especially since I added too much sparkling water... but you can't really go wrong with gin and lemon juice. morphsci Posted March 16, 2011 Author Report Posted March 16, 2011 Nice cocktail creativity Dan and Mike! Still trying to finish off some near empty bottles so I needed a gin drink and went with the Petruchio Cocktail   1 oz gin (1 1/2 oz Northshore #6)   1 oz Aperol (1 1/2 oz)   ½ oz lemon juice (3/4 oz)   1 dash of simple syrup   2 dashes Fee’s orange bitters   1 egg white Place all ingredients in a tin and frappe. Add ice and shake until your arms hurt. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Aura Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Not exactly right now but a few hours earlier - Stone Old Guardian on tap. Ended up being a bit better than I expected and thus far the best brew I've had yet from those dudes with a gargoyle fetish.
Voltron Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Nice cocktails Dan and Mike! St. Patty's is coming up soon, so an Irish Dry Manhattan seems appropriate. See how that cocktail perked Mike up?! Jim and Shelly are bringing their usual cocktail flair. Good beers as well, fellas. As for me, I just shared a bottle of this with our contractor and architect to celebrate starting our little remodel next week: Cocktails up next!
morphsci Posted March 16, 2011 Author Report Posted March 16, 2011 That's a nice Tom Collins Shelly. I like the glass. Next up is a Bourbon Dynasty 2 oz Bourbon   1 oz Lillet (white)   1 tsp crème de cassis   2 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters   lemon peel (garnish) Stir with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Twist a piece of lemon peel over top, releasing the oils and drop in drink. Sit back and enjoy.
Augsburger Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Nice drinks guys! For me it will be this-- tonight it is the 2007 though.
Voltron Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 (edited) Again riffing off of the early adopters in different time zones: St. Joseph's Cocktail 1 dash gomme syrup (1/4 tsp) 2 dashes Boker's bitters (Fee Bros. Old Fashioned bitters) 2 oz dry vermouth (Dolin dry) 2 oz Scotch whisky (Springbank 10) Stir with ice and strain into chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with olive and lemon peel. A bit of an odd mix of flavors, but still enjoyable. The olives are weird for sure, but what the heck. Edited March 16, 2011 by Voltron
luvdunhill Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 I had the same inspiration as Jim and made essentially the same drink in the form of a Savoy Manhattan Cocktail No. 1, although I had to double the rye. Manhattan Cocktail (No. 1) Use small Bar glass. 2 Dashes Curacao or Maraschino. 1 Pony Rye Whisky (ok, two pony glasses of Russell's Rye) 1 Wineglass Vermouth (Mixed -- Dolin Dry and Perucchi Italian) 3 Dashes Angostura Bitters (3 dashes Fees Old Fashioned Bitters) Shake up well (stir), and strain into a claret glass. Put a quarter of a slice of lemon In the glass and serve. If preferred very sweet add two dashes of gum syrup. Finally!! I really liked this one
raffy Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Polished off the remaining Weyerbacher Tiny I had from last night then popped open a CCB Papaya IPA which I'm now drinking by the pool. IPA in a plastic cup = WIN
Dusty Chalk Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Weyerbacher Tiny is my favorite $7 beer. Me: dfh namaste from tap Sent from mah Droid
emelius Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 (edited) feeling pretty shitty about the current state of beer affairs here...in addition to DFH pulling outta Indy, looks like Shelton Brothers (a distributor for Mikkeller, Jolly Pumpkin & many others) isn't paying their Indiana taxes...so no new stuff from them isn't coming in...it's probably Indiana in the wrong...buncha crazies running things here...sucks... ANYWAYS...had to order this online... Mikkeller Koppi Tomahawk x Guji Natural Coffee IPA.... I like it!...pleasant surprise...I'd drink it on the balcony if it weren't so windy...the hops have a stronger presence & bite than the coffee...after a few swigs, the coffee flies under the radar...i'm sort of wishing i could cleanse my palate between sips so as to experience the initial sensation again...
