luvdunhill Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) There is at least one person here with these ingredients Try it. Drink the sweet, sweet cocktails! I think I'll try the fizz tomorrow, that looks nice! Edited March 9, 2011 by luvdunhill
The Monkey Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Nice drinks folks. I really enjoyed the Hop Rod Rye. Will be getting more of that. Also had some champagne. And some of the Eagle. Wednesday will suck. Also need a resupply here in the Monkeyhouse. Bourbon, vermouth, simple syrup among other things are needed asafp.

luvdunhill Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 I need bourbon too. And now dry vermouth. I'm going to try and grab Bulleit and Vya.
The Monkey Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Marc, re the bourbon: get some Johnny Drum.
morphsci Posted March 9, 2011 Author Report Posted March 9, 2011 Yeah, Bulleit is nothing special IMO. Much better off with some van Winkle Lot B. Vya is good but the dry is significantly more flavored than Dolin Dry, so it needs to be used in the way as Carpano Antica is used compared to Dolin Rouge.
shellylh Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 holy crap! I don't use that many ingredients in my Supper.. ) Looks nice though... Cheers You could always mix a few scotches together. Mmmm, I have all the ingredients for a Ramos Gin Fizz but only pasteurized eggs. I want to try the Redbreast in a cocktail, I am sure it would be lovely.
mikeymad Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Oh well - Just another round of Rum and Maui Liqueur .. just tasty.
morphsci Posted March 9, 2011 Author Report Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) Keeping up with Shelly, a Vieux Carre with slightly modified proportions 1 oz. Sazerac 18 rye whiskey 1 oz. Maison Surrenne Petite Champagne Cognac 3/4 oz. Carpano Antica 1 barspoon Bénédictine 3 dashes Peychaud’s bitters 2 dashes Fee Brothers Whiskey Barrel Aged bitters Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir well, strain into a coupe with one perfect ice cube. Edited March 9, 2011 by morphsci
shellylh Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 I should have modified my proportions, the Carpano Antica kinda took over my Vieux Carre (not complaining though)... next time.
Voltron Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 I have missed out on a fun fat Tuesday by having a work dinner but I managed a Sazerac with Thos Handy to start.
Voltron Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 No suffering because the restaurant was great (best goat dish I have ever eaten) and the cocktail was an excellent start. I merely missed out on the camaraderie of a good cocktail night on HC. Catching up with one more: Vieux Carré 1 ounce Bourye 1 ounce Germain Robin XO Brandy 1 ounce Perucchi sweet vermouth 1/2 teaspoon Benedictine 2 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Dusty Chalk Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Lagunitas Wilco Tango Foxtrot -- lot more hoppy than the description is letting on. But still, surprisingly good, considering I don't like pale ales/grand crus/whatever the fuck this is....best goat...
jvlgato Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Out of Dolin Dry. I wonder if Vya might be a good substitute or just stick with what works., This makes me sad. I was just about to place a big order today. I'll add a bottle with your name on it. It'll be Christmas in March!
mikeymad Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 DayQuil, the orange goodness. Powerful stuff....
The Monkey Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Cherry Coke. I have to say that I was very, very pleasantly surprised by the Hop Rod Rye--never had it before. I will definitely be getting more.
