Duggeh Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) Second half of my Russian River Rejection Growler which I cracked last night for the steak dinner. Damn Good stuff. Aaaaand no matter what Russian River might claim about it being an American brewed Belgian style ale, this is the best damn Scottish export I've had Edited February 15, 2011 by Duggeh
shellylh Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Awesome. For future reference, what hotel? Yes, do tell!

jvlgato Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Slightly off topic, but Anne got this for me for V Day:
jvlgato Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Heh. Noticed that, wondered what people would say.. We'll see! Reminds me that a buddy of mine had mentioned once that he and some friends had talked about doing a road trip through Kentucky to do a Bourbon distillery tour. Anyone ever do this?
luvdunhill Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 It's the Clock Bar at Westin St Francis. It's a very very nice bar, and impressive bar tenders. The one that poured me a C note of booze is sponsored by Bols Genever (!)
luvdunhill Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 The Last Word With Lagavulin. Fantastic.
luvdunhill Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) Some stuff with Creme Yevette. An Aviation and some free drink. Tastes like Absinthe and Genever? This place rocks, got a number of experimental drinks... Nice place Al Edited February 15, 2011 by luvdunhill
shellylh Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) 2005 Volker Eisele Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon - I liked it a lot but there are better cabs out there for ~$40 (technically it is a Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc blend though). For example, I liked the Panza better and it is ~$35. Edited February 15, 2011 by shellylh
Voltron Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Marc, were you at Rickhouse the whole time? It is a good spot and owned by the same folks as B&B and Cask Store.
luvdunhill Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Marc, were you at Rickhouse the whole time? It is a good spot and owned by the same folks as B&B and Cask Store. Yeah, I was. Very cool place and had some nice live music to boot. In fact I got an unexpected compliment when the bar tender asked which bar I worked at They were slammed and kept getting shitty drink requests from bitchy women, so I felt a little bad for them. Lots of people were complaining about the wait time too. Also, they do punches by the bowl (and a few ready made ones) which is really cool I think. Today I'm speaking (twice) then taking some important folks to B&B. It's a busy day. Nice thing is, it's downhill from here till Friday.

morphsci Posted February 15, 2011 Author Report Posted February 15, 2011 Nice drink selection Marc. Rickhouse looks like it rocks. Wish I was going back to B&B so I could get another Carthusian .
Absorbine_Sr Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 I'm having an after work Pink Gin, in honor of our wee Scottish chum. Cheers!
Absorbine_Sr Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 And now a Bluecoat and Dolin blanc martini. With jalapeno olive.
The Monkey Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 2009 Domaine Chignard Fleurie “Les Moriers”
Voltron Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Russian River Consecration from a bottle to console myself for passing up Toronado's RRBC "tion" night. The list of special beers on tap was long but the crowd was 5-deep around the entire bar and I didn't want to get home late. Bummer.
morphsci Posted February 16, 2011 Author Report Posted February 16, 2011 The Final Ward 1 oz rye whiskey 1 oz Luxardo maraschino liqueur 1 oz fresh lemon juice 1 oz Chartreuse Put all ingredients into an ice-filled shaker and shake hard until well chilled. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist. A bit sweet but the maraschino is not over the top. I wish I could figure out what was in that Carthusian.
