bhjazz Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Had an Old Rasputin with dinner, and have now moved on to a nice Manhattan. Today was rough at work, but I have tomorrow off so WTF. Cheers, gang.
mikeymad Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 getting serious --> PlowedRiach 1986/23yo 56.1% bottle #55
emelius Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 (edited) Guys, other than the Pliny, what are the main Russian River Brewery beers that I need to try? ^^Beatification:)... Alpine Barrel Aged Token...not good...took an unintended sour turn...infected in a bad way... Bell's Batch 9,000...lightly raisin-y...less so than DFH's two raisin brews...very pleasant/smooth...most times I would prefer a chewy raisin, but this was a nice surprise...better than I remembered... more '11 Founders Backwoods Bastard...great, but I still prefer '10... Surly Coffee Bender...try it...tell me what you think...I've had it a few times & am sold... '10 Deschutes Abyss...dark molasses yumminess...got better as I progressed through the glass...a definite winner... since my buddy opened that Abyss, I decided to open a '10 Darkness for comparison:)...I liked the Darkness better by a slim margin...both were superb...I think Abyss would be the one I'd choose if neither were aged... couldn't resist creating a Darkness/Abyss blend:)... Voltron Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Nice run..... Indeed, but your higher proof run ain't nothin' to sneeze at, neither!
emelius Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 yes...where do you find the time, Mikey?...
Fitz Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Nearly everything that's left in the house since I haven't restocked in a bit, what with my daily driver still being broken (been too busy to have time to really finish working on it).
mikeymad Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 yes...where do you find the time, Mikey?... in the aether...
The Monkey Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Soon...champagne at my Dad's retirement party.
cetoole Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 So, which of you beer and music enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting this? As for me, a wee dram of Willett rye.
Voltron Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 In honor of my holiday gift exchange buddy I am having a Dougroni with aquavit. Very satisfying to my underfed and sleep deprived self. Cheers Doug!
Voltron Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 And now, Embarcadero Cocktail 2oz gin .5oz creme de violette 1oz white grapefruit juice Orange peel garnish Shake and double strain. Maybe too much violet but tasty like a less astringent Aviation
CherryBomb Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Green Martini 3 oz of Gin 1 oz of chartreuse
Voltron Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Woo! Hot stuff! Tasty, though. No kidding. Sip lightly and perhaps dash a little cool branch water in there.
jvlgato Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 No kidding. Sip lightly and perhaps dash a little cool branch water in there. Good advice, that!
recstar24 Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 http://www.bavarian-lodge.com/Site/Events_Calendar.html Drool. Gotta see if I can sneak out from in-law family time that day.
