Absorbine_Sr Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 Saw this described as a Good Times but I'm not sure if that is true. Anyway, 2 parts Old Tom Gin, one part dry vermouth, twist of lemon.
morphsci Posted November 7, 2011 Author Report Posted November 7, 2011 Nice. I may have to give that a try later.
emelius Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 been feelin' rotten the last few days...can't motivate myself to post the twentysomeodd beers I had Saturday...but I am proud that I didn't cave & drink all the bottles of this I bought to ship:)... Founders Backwoods Bastard on tap...
Absorbine_Sr Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 Nice. I may have to give that a try later. I suspect you may do it with a bit more panache my friend. But I am just an apprentice.
Absorbine_Sr Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 And this one is listed on CocktailDB as a Yale Variation. Need to get better sweet vermouth. Ran out of Dolin a week or so ago.
emelius Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 Founders Red's Rye on tap... Central Waters Glacial Trail IPA....workin' on a sixer...
Voltron Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 Prompted by Mike, I had a Good Times Cocktail because I've had so many of them lately, then a Back in Black IPA with dinner, and now another Good Times. Laissez les Good Times Roulez!
shellylh Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 (edited) Very nice Mike-n-Al (except Mike's crappy Martini sweet vermouth - I cannot condone that). Edited November 8, 2011 by shellylh
Voltron Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 I don't love this drink, actually, and I used Vya dry vermouth. As an alcohol delivery system it works, but I would like a martini or Vesper more.
morphsci Posted November 8, 2011 Author Report Posted November 8, 2011 Thanks for reminding me I really like the Ransom Old Tom Mike. So let's see if I agree with Al. Well it definitely highlights the taste of the Old Tom. Not great but ....
Voltron Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 Dyn - O - Mite?! I'm opening a new bottle of Dolin instead of the old Vya to see if Jim is warped.
morphsci Posted November 8, 2011 Author Report Posted November 8, 2011 Dyn - O - Mite?! No. Just good times.
jvlgato Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 Funny ... you guys make drinkin' fun! Hey, wasn't that a song?
Hopstretch Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 Klippies (and Coke). Is to SA approximately what Jack Daniels is to the US. Only thing to go with here in Bellville (prototypical white working class suburb of Cape Town as featured below.)
Voltron Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 Don't be sad about that old vermouth, just think of it as, "small batch artisan vinegar." @@AndrewBohrer

The Monkey Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 Aubert Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay 2008
luvdunhill Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 Lorraine Cocktail (Stork) 1.75 oz kirsch 0.25 oz Benedictine Juice of half a lime Probably no surprise that I like this one. The Clear Creek Kirsch is nice and complex and this makes an interesting drink with more depth than you would expect!
Voltron Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 Cool cocktail choice, Marc. I'll try that one sometime. At City Beer having a Bruery Cuir, barrel aged old ale. Tastes a bit queer. Moving on to a Supplication.
luvdunhill Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) The above is nice Al, in a strange way it reminds me of an Aviation. This next is...... A little weird. Earthquake Cocktail (Stork) 1 oz bourbon (vintage was a waste here, Old Overholt anyone?) 1 oz gin (cheaper the better) .75 oz absinthe (splurge here) Shake and don't strain. Hmmmmm... It's .... Off.
