mikeymad Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 (edited) The Chimay Grande Reserve (blue) is one of my favourite beers, definately worth a try if you haven't had it before. From a few pages ago... little (tall) Chimay blue Cheers Edited October 1, 2011 by mikeymad
HDen Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 haha my bad Currently having a Pink Gin, with Beefeater Gin, this gin isn't too bad.
manaox2 Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 (edited) Eagle rare private reserve 10. I wish it were the 17, but this is damn good! Especially for the price me thinks. My mother has diabetes and gets the cheap wine and since I don't know anything about wine and know her favorite drink was rum and coke, I thought I'd gift her a bottle of this and a glencairn for her birthday. The bottle also looks classy, I hope she likes it. Edited October 1, 2011 by manaox2
Augsburger Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 Valdez Landy Vineyard Petite Syrah, voluptuous and detailed. I need some leg of lamb to go with this. This /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ again and a Ojai Santa Barbara County Pinot
mikeymad Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 For/with dinner Buttonwood - 2000 - Merlot - Reserve Santa Ynez
shellylh Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 This /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ again and a Ojai Santa Barbara County Pinot Did you finally find a leg of lamb? Unfortunately, I had a crappy 2010 Dos Fincas Cab/Malbec blend with dinner. Not recommended. I did have a nice after dinner treat though: 4:1 ratio of Maison Surrenne cognac to Grand Imperial orange liqueur. Tasty. Thanks for the recommendation Jacob.
The Monkey Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 2005 Kistler Cuvee Cathleen Kistler Vineyard.
luvdunhill Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 Nice muddler! It's quite the ergonomic piece of wood. Next I need the proper glassware and this drink really does need to be served with a spoon, if you use sugar cubes.
Aura Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 Yay poor man's stout! Actually my old friend back home had a few extra bottles left over from cooking that he offered so I decided why the hell not? It is what it is and I like my glass.
shellylh Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 (edited) Bloody Mary (with recipe). Yum. Also, I have decided that I love Sriracha sauce (originally bought for Jacob's Bloody Mary recipe). I put it on almost everything now: pizza, chicken, sandwiches, etc. I should add it to the favorite new things thread. Edited October 2, 2011 by shellylh
luvdunhill Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 Two Strawberries, One Sugar cube, and 3 oz. Dark Rum.
morphsci Posted October 2, 2011 Author Report Posted October 2, 2011 It's quite the ergonomic piece of wood. Next I need the proper glassware and this drink really does need to be served with a spoon, if you use sugar cubes. That first sentence sounds like something Steve would say. I would not make a Mint Julep or a Sazerac with anything other than muddled sugar cubes. For me a Boulevardier with HC modified proportions 2 oz VanWinkle Lot B Bourbon 3/4 oz Cocchi Vemouth di Torino 3/4 oz Gran Classico Bitters 2 Griottine Cherries
luvdunhill Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 Ok, I've been meaning to ask this for a while. So, what kind of cherries are those? They are more like cranberry size. I mean, we only get Bing and Ranier cherries around here, so, why are they so small?
morphsci Posted October 2, 2011 Author Report Posted October 2, 2011 The Griottine cherries are Morello cherries in a kirsch based liqueur. They are tarter than the Luxardo cherries and have a better texture.
luvdunhill Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 A proper caiphi. Yum. Aged cachaca is very nice.
luvdunhill Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 The Griottine cherries are Morello cherries in a kirsch based liqueur. They are tarter than the Luxardo cherries and have a better texture. Ah. Yeah, i have some. What about brandied cranberries? I wonder if that would work.
morphsci Posted October 2, 2011 Author Report Posted October 2, 2011 They would be damn small but I bet they would be pretty tasty.
Augsburger Posted October 2, 2011 Report Posted October 2, 2011 (edited) 2005 Kistler Cuvee Cathleen Kistler Vineyard. Jealous......and 2005 no less. Moar jealous. For/with dinner Buttonwood - 2000 - Merlot - Reserve Santa Ynez Mmmmmmmm, the force is strong this evening. Edited October 2, 2011 by Augsburger
