luvdunhill Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 .. And I have no idea what a Gin Sidecar is Reks
luvdunhill Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 an abomination, but probably pretty good. meh, cannot hang with the Pegu Club bitters make everything that much better.
morphsci Posted January 30, 2011 Author Report Posted January 30, 2011 Been wanting to try an Arnaud's Special Cocktail with the Compass Box Asyla ever since Marc's glowing recommendation. So 2oz Asyla, 1oz Dubonnet Rouge, 3 dashes Fee Brother's Orange Bitters Recipe says shake but I stirred and garnished with an orange twist. If I had three thumbs, they would all be up. Marc has good taste.
Aura Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 Victory Hop Devil. Eh, it's alright. I'm so spoiled by Dreadnaught on tap.

The previously mentioned Stagg. Nice. Edited January 30, 2011 by shellylh

The Monkey Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 Aeropress coffee. So much better than the other crap I've been drinking. So. Much. Better.
Absorbine_Sr Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 (edited) Behemoth is back. This is the straight article. Next is the cask version to be followed by the barrel aged. Going to be a very nice afternoon. Edited January 30, 2011 by Absorbine_Sr

grawk Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 16th Anniversary Wood Aged Double IPA - Great Divide
manaox2 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Flying dog gonzo imperial porter. Very good. Though I wish it were a stout.
shellylh Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 2007 Ch. Souverain Cabernet Sauvignon with steak dinner. Before dinner I made an *Anvil* drink, an Aperol Spritz since it almost made it to 70F. I could see myself drinking a lot of these on a HOT summer days (we have a few of them in Houston), it was very refreshing! Aperol Spritz 1.5 oz Aperol 2 oz sparkling wine (Sofia) Orange slice Splash of soda sparkling water [i doubled the recipe because the glass I chose was too big for a single. ]
morphsci Posted January 31, 2011 Author Report Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) Nice Spritz Shelly. The Sparkling water is a nice tweak. Decided to try a Barbara West Cocktail   2 oz gin   1 oz sherry   1/2 oz lemon juice   1 dash Angostura bitters Shake in an iced cocktail shaker and double strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist. About as good as its name, mediocre. Edited January 31, 2011 by morphsci
Voltron Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Great spritz Shelly, and hilarious commentary Jim. I am currently sharing a Sierra Nevada Hoptimum with JP and I made a Savoy cocktail from Underhill Lounge earlier. Willie Smith cocktail 1.5 oz brandy (Le Reviseur vsop cognac) Healthy Dash lemon juice (.5 oz) .5 oz Maraschino liqueur (.25 oz) Shake and strain As Underhill said, kind of a Sidecar variation with less lemon and the maraschino to sweeten. Tasty but any more maraschino would be bad IMO.
manaox2 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 I actually feel like I'm battling back cocktails with beer. I'm going to have to up the ante and post pictures of the glass and bottle if the war is not to be lost.
