Voltron Posted July 10, 2011 Report Posted July 10, 2011 I cannot keep up with him after our 25 hour travel day yesterday, but at least I can be like Mike for a bit.
tyrion Posted July 10, 2011 Report Posted July 10, 2011 Gene, nice Sea Bass. Colin, did you get the falafel at Mamouns in Hoboken? I used to go to the one in the Village. The best I've ever had. Al, welcome back!
mypasswordis Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 Every time I go out drinking I'm reminded why I don't like going out drinking. Lost 3lbs in one night, fml.
Voltron Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 Gene and Raffy, I'm sorry I missed your call yesterday while you were quaffing some beerish delights. That Bass has quite a layer of sea foam on it! Now enjoying a pair of Corpse Reviver #2 cocktails to celebrate Claire finally getting a full-time tenure track contract! Long overdue, but with the partial credit she has earned she can get tenure quickly and get past all the annoying annual contract shenanigans. Congrat Claire! And the Swiss Opaline absinthe is fantastic in cocktails!
raffy Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 Great news Al! Congrat Claire! Having one if these:

morphsci Posted July 11, 2011 Author Report Posted July 11, 2011 (edited) Welcome back Al and congrats Claire. I want to change my reaction to the Bonal and Rye from yummy to fucking brilliant! If you like Manhattans you need to try this drink. I also tried a Vesper # 2 1 1/2 oz Ransom Old Tom gin 1/2 oz Germain-Robin brandy 3/4 oz Cocchi Americano Stir and pour Extremely meh Tonight a Little Italy 2 ounces rye whiskey 3/4 ounce sweet vermouth 1/2 ounce Cynar Maraschino cherry Orange zest Combine liquid ingredients in an ice-filled mixing glass and stir until cold. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry, then flame a wide strip of orange zest over the top. Nice and nice. The Griottines kirsch steeped cherries are much better than Luxardo. The flamed orange zest was cool and worth the singeing Edited July 11, 2011 by morphsci
