manaox2 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Chocolate soy milk. I'd never had it before. It's not very good. Dark chocolate almond milk is much tastier in my opinion, might give that a try. I'm drinking raspberry lemonade crystal light and taking a break from drinking alcoholic beverages to help me get over this cold, consuming scheduled to resume on the 27th.
luvdunhill Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 I almost said that I bet the beer list could make it worthwhile given the psuedo cocktails made with beer, but I was in mood. Now correcting that mood with a scotch whisky cocktail: Golden Dog 1.5 oz Talisker (Lagavulin 18) .5 oz Benedictine .5 oz Lillet Blanc .5 oz R&W Apricot liqueur Shake (stir) well and serve in a chilled cocktail glass. Smoky, complex and quite nice. Claire took a sip and practically spat it out saying that it was like drinking Liquid Smoke. I disagree. I'm going to try that with the Compass Box. It's a very nice cocktail scotch, IMHO. I found out I like black IPAs... (I don't like IPAs, so this was news)
Dusty Chalk Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 No, not "BFFF"..."Pffff" -- (translation: we ain't leavin', so toss off).
Voltron Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 North Garden cocktail also from Regan's Cocktailian column this week in SFGate 1/4 ounce of Laphroaig (Lagavulin 18) 1 1/2 ounces of applejack 3/4 ounce of Buffalo Trace bourbon dash of Angostura bitters teaspoon of a demerara sugar syrup that (2 parts sugar to 1 part water Stir and enjoy.
emelius Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 sbux italian...starting today, you can pay at any location by scanning your iPhone...just wanted to try it out as similar programs i've used haven't worked... I accumulate gift cards from those that don't care for their coffee...'s too bad I let 'em sit in my wallet for so long...but I still had over $9... but her scanner was down heh...so she took my iPhone & just entered the number...glad I decided to try it when there was no line...
Dusty Chalk Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 We could always go back. Of course, they'll probably have a beertini by then.
shellylh Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 North Garden cocktail also from Regan's Cocktailian column this week in SFGate 1/4 ounce of Laphroaig (Lagavulin 18) 1 1/2 ounces of applejack 3/4 ounce of Buffalo Trace bourbon dash of Angostura bitters teaspoon of a demerara sugar syrup that (2 parts sugar to 1 part water Stir and enjoy. Looks nice, I hope you enjoyed it! Still without time to enjoy nice cocktails.
Voltron Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Looks nice, I hope you enjoyed it! Still without time to enjoy nice cocktails. I did enjoy it, but the Golden Dog is way more interesting. I should have noted that I used the Pappy 19yo instead of BT as the recipe specified. So sorry that your time is too tight for cocktails, and hope your ice and time woes end soon!
Absorbine_Sr Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 As prescribed by Dr. Al, a Boodles martini. Most excellent.
Salt Peanuts Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 For the first time in years, Mello Yello. My wife found it in one of the vending machines at her work and brought one home for me.
grawk Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 I had a mello yello on the drive home from pittsburgh monday. The first soda I'd had in months, because they didn't have a non-soda option at the rest stop roy rogers, except bad coffee.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Thanks, now I have Donovan stuck in my head. And also a hankering for a Mello Yello
Salt Peanuts Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 No Mello Yello in Cincy? The last one (prior to the one tonight) I had was while I was living in Columbus.
Voltron Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Guards Cocktail from the Jimmy Late of Ciro's 1930 bar book 1 oz Dry Gin (Blackwoods) 2 oz Italian vermouth (Punt y Mes) 2 dashes Curacao Stirred and strained over new ice even though it is probably meant to drunk up. Tasty with the bitter Punt y Mes. Kind of Negroni-like.
Augsburger Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Turley Petit Syrah. Very jammy and just right for this cooler weather.
Voltron Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 San Martin Cocktail 3 parts dry gin (1.5+ oz Blackwoods finishing the bottle) 3 parts Italian vermouth (1.5 oz Punt y Mes) 1 part yellow Chartreuse (.5 oz) Stir and squeeze a lemon peel on top. Tasty, not dissimilar from the Guards, but more subtle and complex while less bitter.
shellylh Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Working and drinking Camus. Could you fax me over something Al? Surprise me.
HDen Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Had a Pink Gin with Tanqueray, going to try one with Hendrick's now
Voltron Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) Working and drinking Camus. Could you fax me over something Al? Surprise me. Saw a martini-style cocktail called the Gloom Lifter, Shelly. Coming right up! Meanwhile, I just poured a little Pappy 19yo over an ice cube and I intend to drink it shortly. luvdunhill Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Had a Pink Gin with Tanqueray, going to try one with Hendrick's now Cool, what's your preference? Very different tastes, but I find myself preferring the Tanq most of the time.
The Monkey Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Coffee. These Keurig K-Cups are lousy--so weak. I'm not surprised that the coffee is mediocre, but the weakness is unacceptable. Does anyone know if they make a decent STRONG K-cup? I know they have those "extra bold" glavors, but I'm wondering if there's one that's actually good.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 I had some Eau de Cookie ...V? Is that what I'm up to? Anyway, it was made with Wolaver's, and it turned out pretty good.
grawk Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 They make gold foil refillable kcups, maybe adding more coffee? I'm deathly afraid of weak coffee, so i use absurd quantities of coffee when I brew it. Or use my aeropress.
