The Monkey Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 Yup. I picked up a bottle on a whim today, not as "complex" as some of the older ryes but damn it's super tasty and drinkable. ^This. Will have some later tonight.
morphsci Posted June 4, 2011 Author Report Posted June 4, 2011 criminy, i only turn 31 this year. i'd hate to see how it is when i'm Jim old. Only God and George Burns know for sure.
shellylh Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 Earlier: DFH Aprihop and a wee dram of Hudson Manhattan Rye. I'll have to give it another chance but the rye was too sweet for my taste. Guess it'll be one that I save for guest or mix into drinks. I do think the bottle is pretty cute though.
shellylh Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 (edited) I lied*, I used the LX5 to take that picture. *Seems I am getting old and forgetful. I really need to get a prime lens. What FFL do you have? Edited June 4, 2011 by shellylh
morphsci Posted June 4, 2011 Author Report Posted June 4, 2011 is there a recipe, or do you just dump the stuff in until it looks right? I have been following up on Al's aquavit cocktail recipes. The smoke and mirrors is 1 1/4 oz of Aquavit and Campari and 3/4 oz Cynar. The Norwegian Wood is 1 oz Aquavit and Applejack, 3/4 oz Italian vermouth and 1/4 oz Yellow Chartreuse. The Rosalind Russell is 2 oz aquavit and 1 oz Dubonnet Blanc. My measuring ability steadily decreases as the night wears on so in reality the latter method is what actually occurs.
shellylh Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 Still not a good picture, but it is a good drink. Gin & Tonic with a dash of Passion Fruit syrup (dump in style)
shellylh Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 much less barrel distortion, this time. so good picture and likely good drink. It helps if you aren't right next to the subject I guess - also didn't use the LX5.
Fitz Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 nice. that's how it should look, too! thanks! tastes good too
Augsburger Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 (edited) Had a great dinner and a bottle of Clio Bodegas El Nido Clio Jumilla Mourvedre Blend 2008. Went very well with the double cut pork chop, now this is a great fruit forward Spanish red perfect for Mike's BBQing. Edited June 4, 2011 by Augsburger
Dusty Chalk Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 http://lmgtfy.com/?q=houdini+aeratorI already did that, you freak, I was asking your opinion of it over other aerators, since I notice you didn't mention it in my aerator thread. And as much as I give you a hard time, I do value your opinion over just random googling strangers on the internet.
Aura Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 At the Goose Island Clybourn Brewpub in Lincoln Park. Starting with a sour - 2010 Juliet.
Aura Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 Jamm. A subtle stout but really nice roasted notes.
jvlgato Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 Looks tasty, Bryan! Look out for the big thunderstorm heading your way!
morphsci Posted June 4, 2011 Author Report Posted June 4, 2011 Wow the Willett was surprisingly tasty. Of course I was three sheets to the wind by that time. Must sample again with greater sobriety. Now a pair of Rosalind Russells, one with Cocchi Americano and one with Lillet Blanc. News at 11.
