mikeymad Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 "Happiness is doing the same thing over and over and getting the same result" -- Mikey(notso)mad. very nice.... That is a nice looking bottle there..
luvdunhill Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 So, did some major damage go the tequila tonite. Need to pick up another bottle tomorrow. Cannot get Al's fancy Fortelezza. Has anyone tried Partida Reposado?
shellylh Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) Jim has had the Partida. I think it is the next tequila I am going to try (athough I will probably get the anejo). Sipping a little Black Bull 12yr after our steak dinner. Edited September 13, 2011 by shellylh
luvdunhill Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) Ah, you have a good memory any other recommendations out there? Otherwise, I'll try the Reposado Jim, have you tried the Casa Noble? It's damn good stuff, no faults here... Edited September 13, 2011 by luvdunhill
morphsci Posted September 13, 2011 Author Report Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) I like the Partida reposado. I will try the Casa Noble when I can find it. The premiere drink has to be Sazerac Edited September 13, 2011 by morphsci
shellylh Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) I have read some good things about Avion and Siembre Azul tequilas but have not tried them. Anyone have experience with either of these? Very nice Sazerac Jim! Edited September 13, 2011 by shellylh
Voltron Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 Congrat on christening the bar, and a most excellent choice of cocktail. Bravo! I am having a Monte Carlo, but I did not find it in Esquire--online mag or old timey cocktail book. I found a rye whiskey version and went with that, although a bourbon one will follow shortly.
luvdunhill Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 This is the recipe I used: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=5&ved=0CDEQFjAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fmarriedwithdinner.com%2F2008%2F06%2F13%2Fdotw-monte-carlo%2F&ei=L9FuTt2dJcngsQKs8Oi3CQ&usg=AFQjCNH1GKF6eKSflheoVDO0jFjp82l-wg&sig2=MiO1OSKoj4bZwBK9NdYBCA
shellylh Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 I second Casa Noble. I haven't had the reposado but their CN anejo is my favorite anejo at this time. Having a variation of Marc's Not Theory. Unfortunately, I didn't have any Gran Classico bitters so I had to sub Campari. It is nice but I think this would have been better with a little less Campari. I especially like the grapefruit peel. 3/4 oz Reposado Tequila (sub Anejo tequila) 3/4 oz Gran Classico Bitter (sub Campari) 3/4 oz Cocchi Torino 1/4 oz simple syrup Stir and garnish with a grapefruit peel.
morphsci Posted September 13, 2011 Author Report Posted September 13, 2011 Thanks Al, it seemed an appropriate opening drink. The recipe I found for the Monte Carlo also called for rye but it was dam tasty with Bourbon. I need to try the Not Theory, sounds pretty good. Decided to up the ante on the Sazerac
Voltron Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) Upping the ante is the right thing to do Jim! My Monte Carlo was even better because it called for 2.25oz of rye! I made another with Lot B bourbon and it was even better than the High West Rye version. Hmm, I wonder if a better rye would make an been better version. To the lab! EDIT: now I can say the Rittenhouse 25 version is super good! Wow. Edited September 13, 2011 by Voltron
Augsburger Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) I envy Stretch, that looks like a mighty good Muscat. 2.5 hours til Cabernet time. *3.5 hours later* Gee you guys must be very busy this afternoon. luvdunhill Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 Again, I'm really impressed with the Vintage Bourbon... Quite nice.
naamanf Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 Mint Julep. This time with Knob Creek 9yr. Not that great. So far the best ones have been Jefferson's 17 and Noah's Mill.
shellylh Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 Again, I'm really impressed with the Vintage Bourbon... Quite nice. Agreed! The more I drink it, the more I like it. It seems to also mix well.
