The Monkey Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 One of those nights. Made a Remember the Maine that I'd rather forget. Tried again. So-so. This is a drink that requires moderation with the ingredients--except the rye of course. Just made a nice big Manhattan. I should just stick to these. Got some Carpano Antica today. Looking forward to trying it, but if one more bottle of vermouth goes in the fridge there will be much fighting with the Missus.
Absorbine_Sr Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Looking forward to trying it, but if one more bottle of vermouth goes in the fridge there will be much fighting with the Missus. Between gin & vodka in the freezer and vermouth in the fridge, I feel your pain. They just don't understand what's important when it comes to fridge space...
morphsci Posted August 17, 2011 Author Report Posted August 17, 2011 ... Looking forward to trying it, but if one more bottle of vermouth goes in the fridge there will be much fighting with the Missus. Three words, " undercounter beverage center".

There should always be room for some Carpano Antica (although I do wish they made a 750ml bottle).
Aura Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Cab Sauvignon followed by Crystal Head vodka and apple juice. You can take the kid out of college but you can't take college out of the kid.
Voltron Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Three words, " undercounter beverage center". Winning!
mikeymad Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Three words, " undercounter beverage center". Might have to switch out my dishwasher for one...
shellylh Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 All this speak of vermouth forced me to make myself a Manhattan.

livewire Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 (edited) Got me a big-azzed bottle of Makers and I'm gonna put a dent in it. Chilled shots, straight up. Edited August 17, 2011 by livewire
Voltron Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Bloody Mary on my way home. First of several, I imagine.
raffy Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Been drinking a bazillion small plastic cups of different beers at a local beer tasting. Nothing special really best beers by far so far is Marshal Zhukovs. Aside from that, pretty mediocre
tyrion Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Stone Collaberation Green Tea IPA eating a Juicy Lucy with smoked pulled pork inside the burger instead of cheese. Wow!
Voltron Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 (edited) juicy lucy indeed! looking awful tasty. Sierra Nevada Old Chico crystal wheat for me. It' hot here in Mayberry and this is refreshing but not particularly delicious. Edited August 18, 2011 by Voltron
Grahame Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 Bloody Mary on my way home. First of several, I imagine. Any comments on the Virgin (America) customer experience?
Voltron Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 Any comments on the Virgin (America) customer experience? It was alright, but I usually like Virgin more than I did on this trip. I had first class tickets and they had no lounge available on either end of the trip. I was on Airbus A320s and there is plenty of room but the seats do not have enough extension for a comfortable lounging position and weren't super comfortable in general. The flight attendant on the way out was better than on the way back, and neither of them was as constantly attentive as an American or United attendant at the front of the plane. These are all pretty picky and haughty, and I prefer coach on Virgin to coach on any other airline.
Augsburger Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 Lail vineyards J. Daniel Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon. Had a slow start but after ab out an hour opening up this cab has grown legs and wings. Nice should go well with the pruicutto pizza I will be baking in the Barbee.
