Dusty Chalk Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 The only Stillwaters I've seen are the farmhouse ales. :\
luvdunhill Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 (edited) Well, this Warday's is much different! I think I would have liked the Ransom / Carpano combo better, but this isn't bad. Better than the first, which was much more calvados biased. Also, the Aperol Sour is very meh. Not recommended, it's better with a good sparkling water, IMHO. Edited May 6, 2011 by luvdunhill
mikeymad Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 wow the 'whiskey' glass just poured right down... 50ml gone -- pouring another 50ml...
Fitz Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 wow the 'whiskey' glass just poured right down... 50ml gone -- pouring another 50ml... And that's how it's done.
mikeymad Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 and now that is gone... this glass must be defective...
mikeymad Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 I did!!.. same thing happened... switching glasses...!!!
Fitz Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Darn, I think you should have it sent back for inspection.
mikeymad Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 --> Angel's Envy Bourbon (port finish) 43.3% - noser
Fitz Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Oh missed that ... good call... Yeah, I went into chat just to demand that he fax me some.
mikeymad Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Angels Envy round up.. glencairn - very nice but sweet, 'whiskey glass' smoooooth as silk - drinks way too easy. noser - the best balance of good nose, palate, and finish.. going back to 'whiskey' glass... put a hurt on it

Voltron Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 (edited) The only Stillwaters I've seen are the farmhouse ales. :\ Like what? Angel's Envy and Evil Power back to back is funny. Edited May 6, 2011 by Voltron
mikeymad Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Just getting PLOWED on Angel's Envy... nuff said.
Dusty Chalk Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Like what?I think the only two I've seen are Cellar Door (which doesn't seem like a good "starter" and the Stateside Saison. I really want to try Existent or A Saison Darkly or one of those. Will keep looking. Last night: Washington Hills gewurtztraminer and Graffigna malbec
Voltron Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 I really liked the Stateside and think it would be a tasty beer to try out. I haven't had the Cellar Door yet but it doesn't seem inappropriate either. The Autumnal, Existent and Saison Darkly -- which I had last night and quite enjoyed -- are all up your alley, but none of them I have tried are too hoppy or contra-indicated for Dusty tastes.
grawk Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 I think every Stillwater beer I've tried is pretty darn accessible. They're also pretty darn good.
Absorbine_Sr Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 Having a Knob Creek 9 yr. Bloody Mary. Saw it mentioned online and the bourbon gives it a wonderful aroma and mild sweetness. I like.
