luvdunhill Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Bain's Cape Mountain Whisky. It would be hard to review this spirit without the use of at least some phrases like "cheap", "local" and "extremely intoxicating", so I won't try. hey Hopstretch, do you ever send stuff back to the U S of A? I could really use some Kola Tonic (Clayton's or Rose's), and I bet you can get it there. I've been scammed twice trying to order it online from "reputable" .za websites.
guzziguy Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 "Cheap", "local" and "extremely intoxicating" reminds me of my last date... Was this in NYC after visiting the six vendors at the show?

emelius Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 i'm drunk just thinking about it...i'm probably going to miss out on a lotta pics by accidentally selecting the video option on my iPhone... The Bruery Pizza Port Dogfish Head Founders Schlafly Victory Goose Island Furthermore a bunch of Indiana breweries (there may even be an Indiana “section”) that's in addition to the crazy shit FFF themselves'll put on...& they're still adding to that list...
Augsburger Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 2005 Paul Hobbs Le Petit Vice. A very interesting Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon blend.
emelius Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 New Albanian Elsa Von Horizon Imperial Pilsner...my favorite bottling of theirs so far...altough, bottles of their Solidarity Porter should be just 'round the corner...it's a damn good beer...
luvdunhill Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Personality a La Roy Cocktail 1 Dash Angostura Bitters. 1/4 Hercules. 1/4 Calvados. 1/2 Dry Gin. Shake (I stirred) well as strain into cocktail glass.
morphsci Posted April 21, 2011 Author Report Posted April 21, 2011 How did the homemade Hercules turn out Marc?
luvdunhill Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Another with Boomsa. Not as good, but still very tasty.
Hopstretch Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 hey Hopstretch, do you ever send stuff back to the U S of A? I could really use some Kola Tonic (Clayton's or Rose's), and I bet you can get it there. I've been scammed twice trying to order it online from "reputable" .za websites. No problem. I can do that. PM me an address and I'll send you a few bottles. It's pretty much compulsory here to have a Steelworks (Cola tonic, bitters, ginger beer & soda water) after walking off the golf course.
emelius Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 was coffee...soon to be some form of soda... a semi-local liquor store tweeted the above...tempting...should see if the other stores received shipments...
Voltron Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 The two on the right are certainly worth a little drive. Funny that the Lot B is $5 more and the Pappy 15yo is $5 less than a local store here. Last night, I met Ric at City Beer for some beer and then dinner at the corner diner, Citizen's Band: Lagunitas Brewing's The Waldos seasonal ale on tap NB Lips of Faith La Folie in a bottle Russian River Consecration on tap Victory Golden Monkey in a bottle Waldos was ok, not great, the Golden Monkey was forgettable, and the other two are pure joy.
tyrion Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Both the lot b and the 15 are excellent. The 20 year at $119 locally is a bargain. I picked up a bottle for raffy last night. Sorry, raffy, forgot to text you. Al, I have the beer shipping box back, let me know if you want me to pick up something for you.
emelius Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 (edited) they have the 20 for $139.99 & the 23 for $349.99 heh...greedy bastards...called a store i knew was out just so i'd know what prices should be...they said $117.99 & $299.99... Edited April 21, 2011 by emelius
tyrion Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 The 23 is $299 down here. The last bottle I bought was in Albany, NY for $199. I should've bought one or two more. CCB Jai Alai. I convinced myself that beer is good for a cold.
raffy Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Fucking SWEEEEEETTTT Mike! Thanks again for picking a bottle up for me. Please PM/text me how much I owe you. Funny thing, I was just literally talking to my best friend in Clearwater and I was asking him to look around for VW there too. I told him I was only gonna polish off the last ounce or two of my 20 yr old bottle once I found another bottle. So here we are: Cheers Mike!
tyrion Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 I should be able to ship it to you tomorrow via Fedex, which means should get it until Monday. I will pm the details.
raffy Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 I should be able to ship it to you tomorrow via Fedex, which means should get it until Monday. I will pm the details. You rock Mike! Enjoying a Terrapin Rye Squared poolside in a plastic cup:
