n_maher Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 Lily and I made double chocolate chip cookies this morning.
Voltron Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 (edited) nice. sprouts are definitely up there for me. i think Swiss Chard is my absolute favorite veggie, though. especially wilted and then sautéed with shallot and butter, topping crostini with beef marrow. Splash in a little balsamic next time. Tasty. Oh, and please to post your okra tempura and vertical potatoes recipes and techniques. Thanks. Edited September 3, 2012 by Voltron
grawk Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 grilled leg of lamb with a mustard garlic sauce
Voltron Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Thanks Jacob. Those potatoes look tasty. Would go great with leg of lamb with mustard garlic sauce!
tyrion Posted October 13, 2012 Report Posted October 13, 2012 Reks, the stuff you make always sounds so good. I haven't been doing much cooking the last month or two. Didn't even realize that my Traeger Wasn't working until I tried to fire it up last week. Got that sorted out and smoked a tri tip today which was pretty good. I'm defrosting some spare ribs for tomorrow.
tyrion Posted October 13, 2012 Report Posted October 13, 2012 I do like chicken drippings. I made a crumb cake today which turned out pretty good. One of these days I'm going to make some soup from scratch.
shellylh Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 you just like the idea of chicken drippings. i made Michael Ruhlman's French onion soup last night. first time i'd made French onion soup. now that i've made a super authentic version, i can make it with beef stock, so that Emily likes it. ah man it was good, though. i caramelized 5 pounds of onions over the course of 7 hours. so rich and deep. I would like this recipe if you can send it.
tyrion Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Sure, I haven't had French onion soup in a while.
cutestory Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 Red Stag Beef Short Ribs Made 'em with my sister. They turned out great. Add some mashed potatoes (use a ricer!) and dig in. Yummers!
cutestory Posted October 28, 2012 Report Posted October 28, 2012 Homemade Mexican lasagna. I combined the best aspects of the Cook's Illustrated traditional recipe for lasagna with a Mexican lasagna recipe. Just because I fucking could. Picture incoming when it's done (right now I'm sauteeing myself in Margarita).
morphsci Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 Happy Birthday Emily! That dinner sounds the awesome.
deepak Posted November 4, 2012 Report Posted November 4, 2012 Egg fried rice with mushrooms and dried birdseye chilis with s-v chicken breast in satsuma, sesame seed, styronese sauce
naamanf Posted November 4, 2012 Report Posted November 4, 2012 Roasting a chicken over a bed of anise, onion, shallots, garlic, carrots, potato, sweet potato, and thyme. I love the anise roasted with chicken drippings.
cutestory Posted November 12, 2012 Report Posted November 12, 2012 Finally opened my Modernist Cuisine at Home. It's one of the most awesomest cookbooks I've ever seen (I don't have their "big book"). I guess I have to go buy some kind of sous vide contraption. This is not a complaint.
grawk Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 I'm cooking crawfish ètouffèe for 16 tonight. Made the roux last night, just bought the peppers, celery, and onions and the sourdough and French baguettes.
tyrion Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 Pics when its done or it didn't happen. Getting ready to throw a brisket on the smoker.
shellylh Posted November 22, 2012 Report Posted November 22, 2012 Not cooking but baking. Apple tart Pecan Pie
shellylh Posted November 22, 2012 Report Posted November 22, 2012 You better wait to find out how they turn out before you say that.
tyrion Posted November 22, 2012 Report Posted November 22, 2012 Yum, pecan pie! I was going to make one but my son requested a key lime pie. Made two key lime and one blueberry. Turkey is on the smoker. Jp's breast goes on at 1:15 and it's quite a nice breast.
