swt61 Posted July 11, 2023 Report Posted July 11, 2023 I call this dish Batchelor Stovetop Casserole. It's a dish my Father and I developed together when I was around 20, and we were roommates for the first time. 2
n_maher Posted July 16, 2023 Report Posted July 16, 2023 Not exactly cooking but there was heating involved. Reese's puff marshmallow treats. 6

Dusty Chalk Posted July 16, 2023 Report Posted July 16, 2023 Marinating some chicken in yogurt as we speak (minimum 8 hours) -- not sure what for...oh, who am I kidding, I'm making my ghoulash again. 3
Dusty Chalk Posted July 19, 2023 Report Posted July 19, 2023 Ended up being overnight, so...18 hours? I read somewhere that you don't want to marinate for more than 24, but I'm going to shoot for 12 next time, it was already starting to turn mooshy. And even with all that yogurt, the ghoulash still turned out ridonkeylously spicy. 1
swt61 Posted August 2, 2023 Report Posted August 2, 2023 (edited) My neighbor Dave's wife is out of town, so I'm making and taking up batchelor burritos. Seasoned beef, refried beans, peppers, onion, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream and avocado. Batchelor chimichangas actually. Edited August 2, 2023 by swt61 5
Augsburger Posted August 3, 2023 Report Posted August 3, 2023 Mary flies to Boston next week, just sayin'
swt61 Posted August 3, 2023 Report Posted August 3, 2023 I'll see if one can fit in an envelope. I hope Mary isn't going to visit Dave Loggins. 1
swt61 Posted August 5, 2023 Report Posted August 5, 2023 I'm heading to Dorothy's (see, we really are friends of Dorothy) for breakfast. Her boyfriend Gavin will be there, (without the rest of the cast of The Loveboat). My turn to cook, so I made a frittata. "Everything but the kitchen sink" frittata. Sausage, ham, baby potatoes, red bell pepper, red onion, mushrooms, some beautiful multi colored grape tomatoes and cheese. 4

Grahame Posted August 11, 2023 Report Posted August 11, 2023 Is it really cooking if there was no application of heat? Homemade hummus 2
swt61 Posted August 19, 2023 Report Posted August 19, 2023 Prepped and started cooking one of my favorite sheet pan meals for dinner tonight, and to munch on for the next several days. About 15 minutes in the oven, Al's Sister Rinni and Neice Dorothy called and wanted to meet out for dinner. Never turning down a fun time with this Mother/Daughter duo, the meal will go into the fridge for a meal tomorrow. I'll pick up a loaf of Good Earth's baguette while I'm out, and that'll make it even better. Italian tonight. Maybe a good salad too. 3
mikeymad Posted August 27, 2023 Report Posted August 27, 2023 Not to steal any G's thunder.. Curry! About 7 quarts of it. What is it? 'Kinda curry.' It is kind of like tikka, but also coconut, and aloo.. So, it is just Saturday chicken curry. It needs to cook for a bit and then I will adjust the final spice levels. oh yeah, it is kinda like butter chicken too. 4
swt61 Posted August 27, 2023 Report Posted August 27, 2023 The big question is bananas or no bananas on the side?

swt61 Posted August 27, 2023 Report Posted August 27, 2023 (edited) G-man always has them on the side. He's not a heathen. 😛 Which reminds me: There's a youtube channel (jolly something?) where two youngish British mates try American foods. They also go to high schools and have British students try it. Those reactions are hilarious! Edited August 27, 2023 by swt61 .
swt61 Posted August 27, 2023 Report Posted August 27, 2023 The two went to Black's B-B-Q in Luling, TX, on one trip. I thought they were going to orgasm in their nickers! I've been to Black's many times. It's pretty damned tasty! 1
