Knuckledragger Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 I can't find it on the HR page, and Google searches aren't turning up much that is useful. It's still pictured in a few of the HR-BUD photos and a PDF of the manual is still online, but that's about it. I did some preliminary searches on head-fi, but I can barely navigate that site these days. If it's in fact gone, it seems like an odd move to me. The "build your own Max" option of buying a HR-BUD, HR-UDAC and DPS is no longer possible. Not to mention the lack of a top of the line source for the HR power amps + Harbeths. Where's Tyll when you need him?* *Yes, I realize he's no longer directly affiliated with the company.
grawk Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 directly, indirectly, inconsequentially, none
elnero Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Tyll's not directly affiliated with Headroom anymore? When did that happen?
elnero Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 The last I remember reading awhile back he was stepping back from the business side to concentrate more on design or something to that effect, is that what's meant by not directly involved.
grawk Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 no, that was a couple years ago. Last year, he left the company completely. So he's not directly involved, not indirectly involved, not tangentially involved, and not philosophically involved. headroom isn't what it used to be, it's now just a place to buy skullcandy.
Knuckledragger Posted November 5, 2010 Author Report Posted November 5, 2010 Last I heard from him, he had just set up test equipment in his basement and was still doing measurements for HR. That was a while back, however.
grawk Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 ok, so he's a vendor to headroom, so I overstated...
elnero Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 I somehow completely missed that, I guess I'm more than a bit slow. Knuckledragger, if you're looking for an Ultra DAC let me know, I might have a line on one that may be for sale in the near future.
Currawong Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 I've noticed a lot of broken images for gear on HeadRoom lately. They also seem not to be making anything new.
Salt Peanuts Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 They also seem not to be making anything new. I suspect being a dealer/reseller is easier and more profitable.
postjack Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Headroom is no longer an innovator. no worries, Postjack International will soon be doing enough innovation to satisfy the whole market.

The Monkey Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 JP Nums's mug is on the HeadRoom homepage.
grawk Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 newguy should sue them for defamation of likeness.
NightWoundsTime Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Gotta watch the video! Sounds like someone's rehearsing a really low-rent production of Stomp in the back.
