For anyone with an HDCD DAC can you check if these programs are out putting a bit perfect signal with an HDCD encoded CD?

Just played few of my HDCD CDs through AyreWave player and HDCD indicator lights up on my DAC-1100.

i tried out AyreWave a bit ago. it sound exactly like Cog, to me, but the fact that it takes complete control of the audio output is a godsend. no more loud porn noises late at night, when i'm listening to music and perusing dirty movies :)

Excellent point! They should put that in a "testimonial" on the web site!

finally got my library loaded, initial impressions are good but I'll have to do a bit of a comp between this, amarra and pure vinyl. While I get that I am in the minority here I have heard pretty big differences between computer audio players and recorders. Maybe it is wishful thinking or the power of the mind but in a previous session with itunes vs songbird itunes was much better and I wanted to like songbird.

So far ayreware is great and has stopped imploding on start up with my library. I did manage to get my 31,000 song library loaded, started it around 11pm last night with the pinwheel of frustration going full steam but by 7am it was gone and my music had appeared.

Hmm, maybe I'll try uploading my library again before I go to bed tonight. Right now, I keep adding whatever I want to listen (and removing what I was listening before).

I've stopped using the player as it kept getting my machine stuck in pinwheel of death on intermittent basis even when I was only adding an album or two at a time. It may just be my machines but I'll just go back to using Cog/iTunes.

Yeah, I'd have to say "not ready for prime time" on this one for now. I thought it sounded pretty good but very buggy. Not too surprising given it's not much more than a beta release at this point. I'll give it another try on down the line.

I still find the sound of Pure Music better and for the most part, Amara is better still but much more money.

It would be nice if PM locked in hog mode like the Ayrewave does on launch.

That makes me feel better about it not wanting to run on my ancient PPC machine.

It sounds like Cog was similar to Foobar for Mac, wasn't it? I'd love having that. I've got many old rips made on cue + img which are a pita to convert into ALAC to use them on Mac :palm:

No worries then :D If AyreWave adds those features, I'll try it soon. TBH haven't switched on the MBP (my only Mac) for a couple of months. Got tired of iTunes and converting into ALAC.

Anybody compared it to other music players? I am thinking of setting up a Mac OS X just to be able to use it or other Mac-based players if it clearly improves on SQ. As I read I might need another harddrive as well for an optimal clean install.
