jvlgato Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Dude, it's kind of like jazz. If you have to ask the question, then yes, you are. This is really brilliant. I'm going to be pondering this all afternoon, I think. Kind of like a Zen koan. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) I can't take full credit for it, only its use in this context (and a little fun with language). Can't find the exact correct phrasing of the quote, so you'll have to settle for my memory (which, admittedly, is faulty):If you gotta ask, you ain't ever gonna get to know. And: thanks. jvlgato Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Thank you, Dusty 'Satchmo' Chalk! Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Yeah, I saw that, but wikiquote also says, "Exact wording varies", and that sounds like a grammatically correct-ified version of what he said originally. He may have said it multiple times, which may make it impossible to determine for sure. Quote
jvlgato Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Yeah, you're probably right. I can't see Satchmo saying it like that! I still like it so much, that I'm stealing it for my sig. Thanks! (Hope you don't mind) Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 It's a great quote, but you needn't credit anything to me, I didn't say it. You may want to say something along the lines of "paraphrased of Louis Armstrong, etc." And do you realize: we're asking, and we're never getting to knowing (what the quote was). Quote
CarlSeibert Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 The birth of a sig is a beautiful thing to watch. Quote
