elnero Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Yeah, probably should have ordered a couple of more. Christmas is right around the corner after all.
blessingx Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Instead of CDs are we trading DACs this year?
blessingx Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 Bummer. You can't have everything at this price point, but it looks like USB is limited to 16/48. Don't understand why companies release 24/192 DACs, then implement a system that limits the most likely input to supply over 24/96.
Nebby Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 Because it's easy to toss a 16/48 chip into a design, the higher resolution usb inputs are more costly in time, money, development, and sometimes licensing fees.
The Monkey Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 "Reserve your XDA-1(s) for the next available shipment! Emotiva will contact you about order details before your order ships (around November 30, 2010)" Whatever that means.

Salt Peanuts Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 "Reserve your XDA-1(s) for the next available shipment! Emotiva will contact you about order details before your order ships (around November 30, 2010)" Whatever that means. It means you'll get it around Christmas. It also means you like DACs.
Nebby Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 im going to be pissed if people say "No 24/192 support??" when I release the 24/96 async USB DAC What, you mean it won't have 24/192 support??

I wouldn't personally get a DAC without async USB at this point, regardless of the USB data rate supported.

Filburt Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 I wouldn't personally get a DAC without async USB at this point, regardless of the USB data rate supported. Other than for stuff that is cheap I don't think I'd bother with a delta-sigma dac other than the Sabre (preferably 32) at this point.
ktm Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 I ordered two by accident. Not to worry. It doesn't look like they'll be shipping out any anytime soon. Looking back through online chatter, the dates have slipped time and time again. You have to wonder at this price goal if it's really do-able. And if it is, if the quality will be all they say it is. A good $300 DAC with these features would sell like hotcakes. IF it ever comes out, I'll wait for the FOTM to fade and some real reviews to come to surface. It's 2010. Where's all the jetpacks they promised us back in the 60's?
Nebby Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Looking back through online chatter, the dates have slipped time and time again. That's SOP for Emotiva for anything announced
atothex Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 This thing is gonna be the new DACMagic. Who needs reviews when we have this here thread?
ktm Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 They'll be a NEW DACMagic before these guys can be the new DACMAgic.
Nebby Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 They'll be a NEW DACMagic before these guys can be the new DACMAgic. You're quite the optimist, I see.
ktm Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 If this does come out at the $300 mark and performs at all well, it would kill of the DACMAgic. Unless their marketing department is asleep at the wheel, I bet there's either a new offering and/or a price drop on the current model. The DACMagic has been out a couple of years now. Given how the HD-800 caused a rash of new headphone offerings, the DAC market may go the same way. Win/Win. Better cheaper DACS.
Mr.Sneis Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 I wouldn't personally get a DAC without async USB at this point, regardless of the USB data rate supported. Snobs!!
mobayrasta Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 I put in a preorder also. For the price it should make a great 2nd DAC
The Monkey Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Yet another cheap DAC Great first post.
