Eric5676 Posted November 25, 2010 Author Report Posted November 25, 2010 ^^ That surprised me. I'm just going to ask some of the regulars at AVS in the Oppo 93 thread about that to verify.
grawk Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 That looks tempting...I can't wait to hear one.
Eric5676 Posted November 25, 2010 Author Report Posted November 25, 2010 Confirmed. OPPO BDP-93 Pre-release Thread - Page 55 - AVS Forum I agree with him. That release date time window is probably pretty optimistic but you never know. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1292178&highlight=oppo+95
postjack Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 depending on the sound and the USB/flac/hirez interface, it could be a purchase for me.
Eric5676 Posted November 25, 2010 Author Report Posted November 25, 2010 depending on the sound and the USB/flac/hirez interface, it could be a purchase for me. Same here. I'd have no problems selling my 83 for whatever I could get for something like that especially since I'm starting to now see some early warning signs that my 6 year old Onkyo 1000 that I'm using as a transport may not be much longer for this world. We shall see.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 I opted not to get the BDP-93, and to wait on the BDP-93SE nee BDP-95 instead, so...woo-hoo-and-a-woot. (starts saving for Q1 or Q2 2011)
Dusty Chalk Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Why, is it going to have a better interface for the iPod?
Augsburger Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 because it has more letters. ......and a built in knife sharpener.
justin Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 the networking feature interests me. would there be any reason to pick up a networking receiver if the oppo already has it?
Wmcmanus Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 My 93 arrived the other day. Haven't opened the box yet. Will wait until I get back to Cayman next week. Would just be putting myself through torture to have to look at it but not be able to use it.

Would just be putting myself through torture to have to look at it but not be able to use it. X2 Before I can hook up the 93 I need to hire three guys to cart away our armoire that is sitting where our new custom t cabinet will sit, have said guys move the new cabinet into its location in the family room then buy the new TV to go on the new cabinet. I just ordered the special glass fronts for the doors on the cabinet and I must say they are pretty bitchin lookin'.
Dusty Chalk Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Man, that 93 is turning out to be pretty expensive for some people.the networking feature interests me. would there be any reason to pick up a networking receiver if the oppo already has it?Short answer -- no. It might make something easier for you, but unlikely. I'm not sure what a networking receiver needs networking for (other than the obvious), though, so take my answer with a small shake of salt.

Dusty Chalk Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Looks like the answer is yes -- you may have to put some server software on your computer, but...well, start here. As soon as I saw, "...to serve the files to the Oppo...", I was happy, and stopped reading -- I can always go back once I get one and follow along, if I can't figure it out.
Ridleyguy Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 I believe (but am not positive) that you will need to have a DLNA server to stream music to it. For Mac users running iTunes, it won't work directly with the OPPO BDP-93 - I have tried it and it doesn't recognize the Mac. I was thinking of buying a NAS drive to store and stream my music through it, but that means another box. I am by no means an expert on this subject, and recommend the AVS Forum threads for answers on this player, as the beta testers for the OPPO BDP-93 post there and also answer questions.
oqvist Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 How is the case work on the 93? It was not that impressive on the 83se for a 900$ bluray players so I hope it
Dusty Chalk Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Nuforce, Nuforce Extreme editions announced for BDP-93 and BDP-95 I saw the ad in Absolute Sound for the BDP-93 NE and NXE, but not for the BDP-95 NXE.
