Solude Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 While my O2 was off getting a new cable and pads installed, HighEnd Workshop in the UK did a fantasic by the way and cost less than Yamasinc including shipping, I started looking at dynamics/orthos that have come out since 2006. Now with the O2 back on my head I just don't see a rival coming along I started with the Concerto, ya ya I know, and the HE-5LE. Nice for a dynamic rig but no. Brought in the Senn 800... no. Beta22... no. Still holding out for the LCD-2, maybe T1 but whats the joke? Off topic, something finally made its way to between two pins on one of the output transistors of my KGSS and burnt/arced for a while and left a nice ding in the top layer of the PCB. I've cleaned it with alcohol, and the rest of the amp got vacuumed/dusted to clear out the rest of the damn cat hair... Anyway arcing gone, hole clean, no smoke, perfect sound... good to go?
manaox2 Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 I hope your good to go, as long as the damage wasn't in shortening the life span of those output transistors. I also enjoyed hearing the LCD-2. Its probably my favorite phone of the new releases.
n3rdling Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 I think you'll like the LCD2 but not as much as the O2. Will be interesting to see what you decide though.
manaox2 Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Yeah, I don't like the LCD-2 more then the O2. But it seems like a great complimentary phone.
Solude Posted August 22, 2010 Author Report Posted August 22, 2010 On the smoke, Justin has reassured me that its likely cosmetic and that I should test a few points to be sure. Phew
n_maher Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 cosmetic smoke is the best. magic smoke ftmfw
swt61 Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 I thought this was magic smoke?... I just can't keep up with you kids these days.
Solude Posted August 23, 2010 Author Report Posted August 23, 2010 To be clear, its what sat between the pins that smoked, poor George
