Just got to listen to the DT 1350 and it sounds pretty damned good. Supposedly they've changed some things and the T50p is changed to match and is now better as a result. Well, I had the old T50p and the new DT 1350 on my desk at the same time and it was pretty much night and day. The 1350 has got lots of low and little in the way of earbleeding highs ... I think Beyer has come to their senses.

Great to hear. I was looking for a portable beyer and saw your reviews of the T50p...thankfully I stayed far, far away from them. :)

So does that mean there are now two iterations of the T50P? Are they marked differently? I hope so, or that's a nasty opportunity for bait and switch scams.

I don't know yet, but the way to tell is that the profile of the ear pads for the old ones is rounder; the newer pads are more flat on top.

Old T50p.

You can see the tops of the pads are flatter here on the 1350.

Looks like beyer did manage to release a good portable closed phone, much better sound and fit than the T50p (I had the initial version for a day before sending it back).

I've gotten the latest iteration of the T50p, now with smaller headband.

Meh.

It's not as bad as the first of the three pairs they sent me, but it's still pretty poor for the price. Sort of good AM radio sounding.

DT 1350 FTMFW though, they're damned good.

It's really weird that one can suck so badly while the other wins so hard and they have the same enclosure, price, similar release date, with similar (the same?) drivers. I think Beyer has some restructuring to do in their company.
