morphsci
So just finished up replacing the old Belkin wireless router with an Airport Extreme. Nice upgrade in terms of speed, range and stability. I do have one slight incompatibility. The Belkin had WPA security and the Airport can use WPA2, which I prefer. My Netgear wireless printserver (WGPS606) worked fine on WPA but will not do WPA2 security. Since everything else works fine with WPA2, I do not want to downgrade the security protocol. So I am looking for recommendations for wireless print servers that do WPA2. Note, I cannot hook the printer up to the Airport as they are located in different parts of the house. morphsci
Doh! I always forget that the express can easily be used as a printserver. Nevermind.
agile_one
New printer? Wireless printers are dirt cheap (I just got Epson N515 factory refurb w/free shipping for $49 - don't ask about the ink ) that I use with Extreme and works great. Put your $$$ where you want to --- moar printer(s) or moar router(s). Just remember that moar routers, although sexy, and letting your geek flag fly, lower your average bandwidth. morphsci
I see your point but this old Samsung laser printer has stupidly long lasting and cheap toner cartridges. The airport express is not acting as a router as I simply added it to the extreme network so it is simply acting as a wireless print queue for the Samsung. Plus it's made by Apple so it also injects unicorn dust into my wireless network, which is priceless.
