cetoole Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 So you can listen to your stereo records and then listen to your mono records, or listen to your records with one cartridge and then another, and so on. Smartass. Ah, that makes sense. I was really wondering if someone had figured out a weird way of, I dunno, double sampling the record with the needle aligned differently or something.
Augsburger Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 Nice Mike, and John you make me jealous. Have you listened to any gear yet besides the OMA and Denon? I understand the Merlin manufacturing rep is looking for you since he heard that you like the OMA speaker 'mo betta.
jp11801 Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 Not bad but not great we may have preferred the Zu's
tyrion Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 Didn't like the YB Acoustics but did like these: Another nice room:
crappyjones123 Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 are those ob's mike? cant tell from the angle of the picture.
tyrion Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 This is one hell of a rig. Sounds way better than it's price:

luvdunhill Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Ah, that makes sense. I was really wondering if someone had figured out a weird way of, I dunno, double sampling the record with the needle aligned differently or something. that's for quadraphonic records Colin, obviously!
Dusty Chalk Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Ah, that makes sense. Dibs on the patent!
Voltron Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Nice. Peter looks very sassy on the eve of his birthday! Have fun fellas.
cetoole Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 that's for quadraphonic records Colin, obviously! I would actually have believed you, had you said this before Al's post. Still might, who would want to listen with more than one cart, or to mono? Delay and flip the polarity and you can have true balanced. Dibs on the patent! Thought you already could have true balanced, since the coil is floating? Dinner at the Cherry Cricket: Looks like a good time, but who is that sitting across from Possessed Justin, with the pitcher?
Voltron Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Colin, that is Tyler/Sherwood with the pitcher.
boomana Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 To what or whom is that hand/arm attached?
jp11801 Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 To what or whom is that hand/arm attached? Mike
HeadphoneAddict Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 It's been a lot of fun so far, and lots of good headphones, food and company. I'd really like to spend the last day visiting the speaker rooms, but don't have a clue where to start. It's too overwhelming.
Dusty Chalk Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 Thought you already could have true balanced, since the coil is floating?Hey, don't go ruining my chances at my fortune with your silly logic. How about balanced-upon-balanced? You set up each needle as single-ended rather than balanced. And technically, you still lose any benefit of common mode rejection (with the dual needles), so it's an inferior balanced, not a moar troo balanced. And that's not possessed Justin, that's Justin-with-lasers. I want what he's having.
