kevin gilmore Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Yet another stax project soon. A lot of people are going to want this i think. Birgir knows what it is, and had better not drop any hints hint: diffuse field. Quote
Voltron Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Knowing not much at all, that seems like a pretty big hint already. Quote
spritzer Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 This will be be very cool. Al has something like this already... Quote

Voltron Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 What if I bought another one and taped them together? Reminds me I have go to sell that thing. Quote
swt61 Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 You guys are constantly reminding me that I'm a Chihuahua trying to run with Mastiffs. Quote
Augsburger Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Well I have commited ( for the near future until my vinyl rig is up and running) to stay away from all things stat-like, so for now I am safe. Having said that, I would really really like to hear this thing I don't want to know about. Quote
morphsci Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 .... Reminds me I have go to sell that thing. I think you did as soon as you decide on a price Not balanced he doesn't... Color me interested. Quote
Voltron Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 I think you did as soon as you decide on a price Oh yeah, now I remember. Quote
El_Doug Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 which headphones are you designing for? Quote
kevin gilmore Posted June 16, 2010 Author Report Posted June 16, 2010 Its going to be tuneable. And all analog. Eventually it might end up as pure dsp, that is going to take a while. Quote
mrarroyo Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 I do not even make as high as chihuahua! More like a flea. Quote
jjinh Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 which headphones are you designing for? Pretty sure the first post says Stax. ... which means I'd be interested; if only I knew what the heck this project is were talking about. Quote
deepak Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Pretty sure the first post says Stax. ... which means I'd be interested; if only I knew what the heck this project is were talking about. With the hints dropped in this thread, I am guessing similar to Stax ED-1, except way more awesome since it's a KG design Quote
jjinh Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 With the hints dropped in this thread, I am guessing similar to Stax ED-1, except way more awesome since it's a KG design I kinda knew that, but I'm dumb so I never got around to finding out what the words "diffuse-field equaliser" meant. Anyway, I stopped being lazy and did a bit of reading; sounds awesome! Quote
kevin gilmore Posted June 17, 2010 Author Report Posted June 17, 2010 well its line level in and out, so a tweeked version should work for planar magnetics Quote
The Monkey Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Yes, but will it have MOAR pretty litez? Quote
spritzer Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 We can always add more pretty led's for Dinny... Quote
John Buchanan Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 I did a review of the Stax SRM Monitor for those who don't understand what on earth is being discussed here. I still say it is the single best piece of equipment I have ever purchased, and you guys are gonna love this. How on earth do you do the adjustments without doing a frequency analysis? Quote
kevin gilmore Posted June 17, 2010 Author Report Posted June 17, 2010 that is what sound cards and software are for... Quote
John Buchanan Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Sorry Kevin, still thinking like a dinosaur here, LOL. You are working on presets for different phones - OMG!!!! What Stax could have been! Holey Moley!!!! Have you been in contact with Gunther Theile? A lot of people are going to love this. Quote
cetoole Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Sound cards and software are also good for applying DSP...got any preliminary curves? Quote
