shellylh
I would like to connect the KGSS (balanced), Woo Audio 5LE (SE), and GS-1 (SE) all to the ECD-1. I was hoping to be able to have more than one amp on at a time (but at least not have to plug and unplug cables). Is it ok to have amps connected (and running) to both the XLR and RCA outputs of the ECD-1 simultaneously and will this degrade sound quality? This was my plan: |----(RCA)----> GS-1 ----(loop out)----> WA5LE ECD-1 | |----(XLR)----> KGSS[/HTML] Edited June 12, 2010 by shellylh
nikongod
My usual method is to try it and see what happens I have done what you describe (2 things chained off of RCA, 1 on XLR) to get a bunch of amps to run on my Esound E5at meets. agile_one
Like Jacob, I cannot speak to the ECD-1 specifically, but I did that exact thing all the time from an Accuphase player with RCA & XLR outs. Even split the RCA to feed two SE amps. I would also echo Ari's suggestion to just try it (you'll probably like it) .... But then that's so true of many things. blessingx
Shelly, as others have said also, don't know about the ECD-1, but I do this with all my Parasounds without issues.
n_maher
It's highly likely that the ECD-1 has dedicated output stages for both the SE and XLR outputs so I can't imagine that this will be a problem. Some crazy purist will probably tell you that it isn't the best thing to do to load both at the same time but my bet is that you'll be fine and suffer no sonic consequences. mrarroyo
XX, I too do not have experience with the ECD-1 but I do similarly with the Monarchy Audion NM24 DAC. It has a tube and a SS outputs and both are being used concurrently. Try it and let us know.
shellylh
Ok, seems like it will be fine to try. Thanks.
screaming oranges
Shellyh. i did the same with the Bel Canto DAC3 and currently with the AA Prima DAC. I never had issues.
Dusty Chalk
It depends on the output and input impedances of the respective connections on the three devices involved, and whether or not, as Nate says, they have separate output stages. So (as you're already doing), try it and find out. If you can't immediately tell the difference, then it's fine.
dimitris
Same here with Esoteric D70. No issues.
