digger945
Wiper should be connected to -500. Same for both channels(same for last post above also)
digger945
...and tied to ground somewhere.
kevin gilmore
Well the ps board was not updated for some reason, all those should be fixed now. The wiper on the pot is the center pin, and as a two wire device it really does not matter which end its tied to ?? The connectons to ground are hard to see in the jpg's. here are the pdf's http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/kgsshvamp3.pdf http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/kgsshvps.pdf Edited June 29, 2010 by kevin gilmore
digger945
You are right. What about RV2/R44/R45? Is Rev 0 the correct board? EDIT: correct amp board Edited June 29, 2010 by digger945

spritzer
I'd spec the transformer at 100mA for some extra headroom but I like to overbuild...
digger945
C1 and C2(5pF) missing I forgot, the 170/389 silks and stuff look good(I can't read the DGS but regardless it's correct by the silk)
kevin gilmore
C1 and C2 were always optional anyway, way back from the start. Never needed them before, hope not to need them now on the board, but might as well have a place for them if needed.

kevin gilmore
anyone know where to get the rubber versions of these things https://sdp-si.com/eStore/PartDetail.asp?Opener=Group&PartID=1938&GroupID=
kevin gilmore
So the transformer is going to be 4 inches in diameter. Which means that the inside of the box is going to have to be 13 x 13 inches for a single chassis thing. Heatsinks both sides.

From an RC hobby site. Can't find a place to buy them yet, just wondering if it would fit the bill first.
kevin gilmore
yep, that is what i'm looking for. the other ones make noises as they turn.
Looser101
If you can't find the appropriate rubber ones try sleeving over the joint with silicone tubing.
kevin gilmore
i'm thinking seriously of doing a version of the board with a simplified current source that performs just as good (1000 volt ixys part, thanks marc) and with standup heatsinks. Will make it lots easier and cheaper for people to build it. Power supply will be the same thing. Hopefully will get started on it friday. Will cut the power supply voltages to +/-450 just to make sure the current source has a bit of headroom. if anyone knows of a depletion mode fet that does more than 1000 volts and will run at 1ma, let me know. kevin gilmore
its also a jfet. in any case i will try and buy a few and test them. i assume people are using them as current sources, would like to know how they actually perform.
