spritzer Posted March 25, 2014 Report Posted March 25, 2014 I thought you liked cramped? Small is good but it isn't easy...
headinclouds Posted March 26, 2014 Report Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) That's very sweet Birgir. Nice one. Edited March 26, 2014 by headinclouds
Tachikoma Posted March 31, 2014 Report Posted March 31, 2014 Any idea who this guy is? http://www.head-fi.org/t/711706/ic-kgsshv
s_r Posted March 31, 2014 Report Posted March 31, 2014 That would be me. Not totally sold on the idea of selling kgsshv's though...
Voltron Posted April 2, 2014 Report Posted April 2, 2014 Well this does seem to fit, if a bit cramped... Not enough hot glue and JB Weld 1
spritzer Posted April 2, 2014 Report Posted April 2, 2014 If I can find the time then I'll start testing it today. That plus another small HV...
spritzer Posted April 2, 2014 Report Posted April 2, 2014 Said fuck it to other things requiring my attention... It lives but I haven't done any testing except for balance/offset etc. Now for some not so fun wiring... 1
spritzer Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 ...an hour or so later spent wrangling wires it was alive. I went for orange as the power indicator to try something different... No hum noticeable with the headphones but I'll measure it when I get a chance. Running at 9mA and the sinks get warm but not hot. Next one will be run harder but the really neat part is that aside from the 2SA1968's everything is in current production.
luvdunhill Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I can't believe you guys haven't seen the light with pluggable PCB connectors.
RudeWolf Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I can't believe you guys haven't seen the light with pluggable PCB connectors. Amen to that. Still - a terrific build!
spritzer Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) I solder everything where I can. Can't stand the pluggable stuff. Edit: Ohh and this amp sound fucking fantastic!!! Edited April 3, 2014 by spritzer
spritzer Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 Some comparison shots, remember that the 727 is the exact same size as the 007tA... Suck it Stax!!! 1
RudeWolf Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 Perfect for office use! The desk friendliest KGSSHV so far.
jgazal Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 Some comparison shots, remember that the 727 is the exact same size as the 007tA... Suck it Stax!!! I recall Stax saying that improvements on the current line would mean large heatsinks and that was supposed to increase costs more than the audible benefits. Now you have regulated power supply, more current and more voltage in comparable package. Nice proof of concept. I hope Stax licenses the boards from KG to mass market a similar platform. Do you think EI transformers with same current would fit? Congratulations!
Kerry Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 I'm loving so much about this build. You've really nailed it Congrats!
ujamerstand Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 Excellent execution. Tiny package, big punch. Congrats!
chinsettawong Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 Very, very nice indeed!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
