deepak Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 I like the Tumi Alpha Bravo line a lot, Deepak. Not sure if the 15.2" will fit though, it says up to 15"... That Tumi is hot. Will see if I can check it out in person. I don't particularly want to go down the sleeve + any bag route.
shellylh Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 New bags added to the Think Tank retrospective lineup. There is now a "7" which is very similar in size to the "10" but now has an official pocket to carry the ipad or 11" Air. http://www.arminblog.com/2012/04/20/think-tank-photo-retrospective-7/

shellylh Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Probably... ok, most likely will get one (in Pinestone, not the new color) and sell the 10. I was thinking of getting the Urban Disguise for the purpose but I think this will work better. Maybe I should get both and compare though.
Salt Peanuts Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 (edited) Get both, obviously. I wish more of their bags came in Pinestone as I really like the color a lot more than black (or new Blue Slate for that matter). Though I guess my Speed Freak would look weird in that color. Speaking of 10, how much can/do you fit in there? Edited April 25, 2012 by Salt Peanuts
grawk Posted April 26, 2012 Report Posted April 26, 2012 http://jumpfrompaper.com/ Not a drawing. A photograph.
The Monkey Posted May 19, 2012 Author Report Posted May 19, 2012 I need a new camera bag. Something sturdy and compact. Like me. Shoulder or sling would be good.
shellylh Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 Dinny: I really love the Think Tank Retrospective 5 and 10. Much better quality and comfort than my old Crumpler. If you wanted some thing really compact, you could get away with the 5 but it won't hold much more than the 10. The 10 will give you lots of room for camera, lenses, flash etc. I found that the 20 was much too large for me. Think Tank products are really great. If you want to also carry an ipad or 11" Air, you might want to wait for the 7. http://www.thinktankphoto.com/categories/shoulder-bags/retrospective.aspx 1
crappyjones123 Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 (edited) I have the tenba discovery photo laptop messenger and absolutely love it. The camera sections lifts out completely for when you want to pack for a couple of nights and want to take your laptop but no camera (business trip etc). Completely packed it held my 13"MBA, charger, d7000 (without the vertical grip) with a rokinon 35mm/1.4 (big ass lens), nikkor 50mm/1.8, sigma 30mm/forget f stop, a couple of notebooks, assortment of pens, pencils, wallet, phone, jh16. Oddly enough it wasn't bad at all to walk around with. http://www.tenba.com/collections/discovery.aspx Edited May 19, 2012 by crappyjones123
agile_one Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 dinny ... get your skinny Irish ass down to B&H and check out a bunch in person. From personal experience, I'll 2nd the Think Tank Retro 5 - 10 and Gator with insert, and switch up the Domke to the F-3x.
grawk Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 Kata MiniBee-111 DSLR and 13" Laptop Backpack for $150 + free shipping Adorama offers the Kata MiniBee-111 UL DSLR Camera and 13" Laptop Backpack, model no. KT-UL-MB-111-B, for $149.99 with free shipping. That's the lowest total price we could find by $150. This bag can accommodate a digital SLR, 35mm, or digital video camera, up to five lenses, and a laptop with up to a 13" screen. It also features smaller compartments for accessories such as a water bottle, phone, or wallet.
The Monkey Posted May 24, 2012 Author Report Posted May 24, 2012 For me , I like the Urban Design better than the Retrospective. Both excellent bags. The UD is just more my style, though it's a bit harder to access.
luvdunhill Posted June 2, 2012 Report Posted June 2, 2012 Anyone happen to know of someone wanting to get rid of a Tom Bihn ID bag for a decent price? I've watched a few on Ebay but haven't pulled the trigger. I think I'm going to try it out at this point though, and just looking to save some money at this point from buying new
The Monkey Posted June 7, 2012 Author Report Posted June 7, 2012 Shelly, what's your verdict on the ThinkTank bags?
shellylh Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 I didn't get the Retrospective 7 before leaving. I am not sure about the UD 50 though - it seems so giant briefcase like and really heavy (even empty). I'd probably only use that for traveling though and keep the Retrospective 7/10 and 5 for everyday around town stuff. I'll have to load it up and see how it carries.
The Monkey Posted June 7, 2012 Author Report Posted June 7, 2012 Yeah, the 50 seems pretty big. You might like the 40.
Dusty Chalk Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 I'm thinking of getting this for interviews, any experience with the brand, RoadPro?
grawk Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 As someone who does an awful lot of interviews, I don't see the value in you having a briefcase
Dusty Chalk Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 Some place to keep my resume's, references, etc.?
