shellylh Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 I actually like the Brain Backpack a lot and will have a hard time not buying it. I love the RedOxx stuff but I picked RO the first time because it was the function over form solution to what I wanted (but still looked good to me). I think case, right now, the Bihn seems like both for what I'm looking for. I wish their factory store in Seattle had better hours so I could go over and find a laptop sleeve or case that might fit in the Backpack but they have really limited hours from what is posted online. The Brain Backpack is awesome and will hold a lot. It is also really rugged. I bought one a while back but it was just too big for my small frame. I would definitely recommend this. I know there are people who love the tough RedOxx stuff and I tried to (love them) but I just think the Tom Bihn stuff is much more thought out and I keep going back. I would suggest something like SuperEgo if you want to go with a one strap bag but with a large laptop, I personally would go with a backpack.
shellylh Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 Interesting concept. I wonder how well it would work in practice. A new photography backpack by MindShift Gear, Think Tank's new outdoor photography gear store. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/134466492/rotation180-photo-backpack
pigmode Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 I'm leaning towards the Missionworkshop Sanction for a cycling pack.http://missionworkshop.com/products/bags/backpacks/rucksack/sanction.php
grawk Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 I bought a saffron air boss today. I had the option of getting them to put the headcase logo on it, but that would have taken an extra month, and I need it in exactly a month, so didn't want to risk it.
agile_one Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 ... and saffron's mad about me ... back to topic - Nate, I throw a 15" MBP in the outside pocket of my Sky Train all the time - just need to be mindful that external padding is nil. Very comfy as a carry or as back pack. As to missing pockets, I usually have the Gator along with me, and that sucke up all the bits and pieces that accumulate along the way.

I thought you had to be on the Travel Team to have a logo... **BRENT**
Dusty Chalk Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 I'm just mad about saffron. Thanks, now that's stuck in mah head.
TMoney Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 I'm afraid to ask if the bag is yellow.
Dusty Chalk Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 It's very yellow. Try doing an image search on red oxx saffron.
n_maher Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 Brain arrived yesterday but I haven't had any time to look at it yet. Immediate first impression is that it's a very well made piece, not that I expected anything less.
cutestory Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 My favorite quote from Spock's Brain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzuXqzdYmTQ
VPI Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 Time to pick up yet another bag for the train commute. Mostly iPad and some little stuff. The Coach leather bag lasted 6 months before needing to go in for service for shoddy work and the Tumi bag has pretty much fallen apart but I haven't bothered getting it serviced. Anyone have recommendations for a nice leather bag that have impressed the Briefcase/bags and the murse devotees?
Voltron Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 My daughter has one of these, a Batchel from Cambridge Satchel Company. It is practically indestructible. Another highly regarded brand is Saddleback Leather, which offers a 100 year guarantee
VPI Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Nice additions Al. I was looking to buy my first Tom Bihn thing, a strap, but the shipping is so stupid I couldn't bring myself to by a 30 dollar strap and pay a third of the purchase price again for ground shipping.
n_maher Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Have Colin make a run to the corporate store for you, Jeff. 1
VPI Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 That is a good idea since he will be in Virginia next week.
Dusty Chalk Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 's'not black enough. EDIT: No, wait a minute, yes it is.
Salt Peanuts Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Another highly regarded brand is Saddleback Leather, which offers a 100 year guarantee Damnit, Al, now I want one of their bags even though I've no need for one.
Voltron Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Was it the 100 year guarantee that grabbed ya?
VPI Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 I am contemplating one of their bags but I think I would miss additional pockets, etc. that Saddleback seems very limited on. There is some compartmentation in the main area but no place else to shove little things I need quick access to like I have in most of my bags.
