screaming oranges Posted July 7, 2014 Report Posted July 7, 2014 (edited) I think he meant the headphons giving head... not him giving head while wearing the headphones. Then again, a google image search for "Grado HP1000" results in some rather compromising photos... Edited July 7, 2014 by screaming oranges
Dusty Chalk Posted July 7, 2014 Report Posted July 7, 2014 I would think that that would be uncomfortable for the recipient. Wouldn't JH13s work better? I ask, since I have no experience in the matter.
RudeWolf Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 Not only the worlds best headphones, but also the best headphones for giving head. Which are the best for receiving?
guzziguy Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 I think he meant the headphons giving head... not him giving head while wearing the headphones. Then again, a google image search for "Grado HP1000" results in some rather compromising photos... I found a picture of me wearing HP1000 at an MOA and, right next to it, an interesting "Spritzer vs. Stax" poster. But I didn't see anything compromising. I guess I'll have to keep searching.
DefectiveAudioComponent Posted August 17, 2014 Report Posted August 17, 2014 A well-shaped pair of the latest ear pads did open up the sound a bit on my rev 1, giving more air. The most recent pads are softer than my old rev 1 pads, and have a different dust protector.
Grahame Posted October 1, 2015 Report Posted October 1, 2015 The LCD-4 is our new reference headphone featuring unique Double Fluxor magnet arrays for the most powerful magnetic flux density in existence. That lasts statement may need some qualification. cf. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/space/10244688/Most-powerful-magnetic-field-in-universe-that-is-20-trillion-times-stronger-than-a-fridge-magnet.htmlhttp://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a226/1280796/Possibly also known as the LCD-$4K, because of its price.https://www.audeze.com/products/lcd-collection/lcd-4$4K for exposed screwheads?
skullguise Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 The LCD-4 is twice as good as the LCD-2, and 1/3 better than the LCD-3. 2
purk Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 Knowing what a properly driven HD800 can do compared to the SR009/007 + KGSSHV...I doubt that the LCD-4 can be that much better.
shellylh Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 They could make a lot more money if they had just called it the LCD-10 1
Grahame Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 Or a special edition that goes to LCD-11 2
purk Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 Well, they probably didn't want to skip LCD-5...b/c that will be an opportunity for them to charge $5k for their TOTL offering.
Grahame Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 Where's all the LCD-4 talk? Here, apparently
spritzer Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 Yup, it is the new retard forum. They have to be somewhere...
Torpedo Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 Hahaha, I thought they were all at Head-fi and the like. I didn't really think there was need to make more places for such people.
DefQon Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 (edited) Lot's of negativity about the LCD-4 on that site and given the few pages I've skimmed so far I agree that Audeze must be smoking crack if they want $4k USD for LCD-4 when they still haven't fixed there consistency and reliability problems with there current range. Right now with the headphone industry it's all about who ever markets the most expensive headphones has the biggest dick on the block. There is no innovation and new ideas now. Wait till Joe Skubinski of JPS releases a new $15k Abyss model. Fuck maybe we should get Wachara a 3D printing machine, a bigger CNC milling machine to mass produce DIY ESL headphones and sell them at $10k, bound to be plenty of suckers buying them in no time. On the other hand......What the fuck is this?https://www.audeze.com/products/microphones/planar-magnetic-microphones Edited October 5, 2015 by DefQon
numbercube Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 Yup, it is the new retard forum. They have to be somewhere... Retards because they put HD800 > Stax Omegas?
spritzer Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Well there is that which is so absurd that it isn't even funny but no, their status as the community retards has be locked in place for a long time now.
Sherwood Posted October 8, 2015 Report Posted October 8, 2015 (edited) Why am I just hearing about this now? There are already castaways from Changstar, and Purrin is their king? God, that guy is useless.I think the breakaway republic from a shitty place that was, itself, a breakaway republic from a shitty place is the headphone equivalent of Bangladesh. DefQon Posted October 8, 2015 Report Posted October 8, 2015 (edited) Something for Kevin and Birgir to comment upon:The King Amplifier made by Bascom King for Audeze: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-king-headphone-amp-by-bascom-king-for-audeze#/ The last video coverage on how there drivers and assembly is made/done is quite interesting. Didn't know they used 2micron thick mylar for their diaphragms. Edited October 8, 2015 by DefQon
kevin gilmore Posted October 8, 2015 Report Posted October 8, 2015 if you pause the video at exactly the right place and expand, you see virtually all of the schematic.input is differential amplifier with resistive plate load and constant current sinkvas stage is p-channel mosfets with resistive source loads. And likely the tubes are running at most 50vand outputs are stacked n-channel mosfets (futterman like) so top mosfet has no voltage gain, and bottom mosfet has quite a bit of voltage gainthen wrap lots of feedback around it. LOTS of feedback.now I'm sure the real amp is slightly different, but from the prototype pictures, looks way simple.anyone see any specs, I sure didn'tThe price is WAY stupid. and reminds me of 2 completely brain dead cavalli designs (LF and LC)using an input tube with a plate load resistor is going to be much higher distortion than a Wilson current mirror.using resistors in the vas stage instead of current sources is another source of distortion.cavalli had to discount the liquid crimson by $1k (down to $1800) and i'll bet that sales of that thing are still slow and the few customers that paid full price are really pissed right about now, as one of them was trying to dump his used unit (only 3 weeks old) for $2300
