spritzer Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Not sure. This was all in the early 90's but somebody might have posted the documents somewhere.
kevin gilmore Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 tympanni 1's were about 1974, so the patent would have run out 1992 or so... Got to be public domain now.
jvlgato Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Not sure. This was all in the early 90's but somebody might have posted the documents somewhere. any details of the lawsuit? those patents have to be way out of date by now. I remember this, too, (but not the exact details of the patent infringement) and thought that was what put Apogee out of business. But when I tried to do a search, couldn't find anything, and someone else later posted that this wasn't true at all.
emelius Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 mine showed up yesterday, but i went to a Colts/Bengals preseason game & haven't had much listening time...i have Dark Side playing on a loop until i get home from work... the Gilmore Lite w/DPS didn't seem to be having any trouble, but i want to try my old Portal Panache next... the wood oil & cloth were a nice touch...& the presentation box itself came double boxed...there are a few things i'd like to change about the design, but i'm pretty impressed by the overall package...

Had you gotten a tracking number from Audeze? I've paid but haven't heard anything else so far.
emelius Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 i got an e-mail from one of their employees...Sankar i believe...a few hours after payment... by the by, their standard ~$22 shipping appears to be fedex two day...
DefectiveAudioComponent Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 The storage/transportation box protects the headphone very well. Too bad it can only be used with disconnected cables. Black leather over that foam on the headband would look good I think.
robm321 Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 Ruler flat midrange. I look forward to hearing these one day.
swt61 Posted September 4, 2010 Author Report Posted September 4, 2010 For those concerned about the headband pad, I wonder if an inquirey to J Money might bear fruit. After all he makes the earpads, I don't see why he couldn't design an aftermarket leather headband.
emelius Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 i'm keen on the replaceable insert idea...but a replaceable covering is cool too...i just don't see any way in which the foam isn't going to decay & leave an ugly, crusty gluey mess...

jvlgato Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 Ooooooh! I dub thee Electric Boogaloo! Perhaps a showing at ChiLiquiFi? And the headphones, too?
Currawong Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 I finally got around to scanning mine: Interesting how the later the headphones, the smoother they seem to drop after 1k.
K3cT Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 I finally succumbed to the hype... I really like the O2 so I hope this won't disappoint.
Nebby Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 I really think these headphones need a F5 or BA2 to be properly amped (Only saying that since the idea wafted through my head today)
K3cT Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 I really think these headphones need a F5 or BA2 to be properly amped (Only saying that since the idea wafted through my head today) Nah, that's not good enough. You need an actual power amp to drive them well, like its Chinese brother with gold drivers.
Nebby Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 LOL @ the BA-2 being "not good enough"
luvdunhill Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 LOL @ the BA-2 being "not good enough" agreed. The minimum is "The Arch Nemesis"
Nebby Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 agreed. The minimum is "The Arch Nemesis" Did you pick up a copy of Linear Audio? I've been curious about what that amp was (enough so, that your mention of it made me buy a copy...damn you!). Perhaps I'll put a headphone jack on my F5, bring it to a meet with a label "LCD-2 bare-minimum amp"
luvdunhill Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 I've been curious about what that amp was (enough so, that your mention of it made me buy a copy...damn you!) actually, I wasn't totally joking about it being a good choice for the LCD-2. The "Arch" is Nelson Pass' take on a Hiraga Nemisis. Yup, still uses an output transformer. Very "SET sounding". Similar to this:
Nebby Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 I knew you weren't totally joking, I only mentioned the F5 because unlike the nemesis I actually have parts to build one. I wonder how the nemesis sounds...
