Voltron Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 You must have looked hawt in those back in the day Steve!
mypasswordis Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Yeah, there's probably just enough material to cover the pubes.
Dusty Chalk Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Those look desperately uncomfy.Agreed. I wouldn't even consider wearing them.
jinp6301 Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Make it out of black denim and lets see what you say
Smeggy Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Yeah, there's probably just enough material to cover the vagazzles. fixed that for you.
Tyll Hertsens Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 Those look desperately uncomfy. I don't think most of us were thinking of wearing them.
Smeggy Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 boo should wear pair for canjam, I'd make an extra effort to get there
mypasswordis Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 But you better come to CJ either way.
boomana Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 boo should wear pair for canjam, I'd make an extra effort to get there I'm quite sure my plentiful behind would prevent that possibility from ever happening, like trying to stuff an elephant into bulldog's sweater.
The Monkey Posted April 29, 2010 Author Report Posted April 29, 2010 Ok, the pair of modded K340s that Jim is kindly lending to me seriously kick ass. These things sound great. And thanks to Nugget Audio for the adapter.
Voltron Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 I guess that the T1 isn't to your liking? Not too surprised if they aren't. p.s. which K340s did you send him Jim?
The Monkey Posted April 29, 2010 Author Report Posted April 29, 2010 I can answer both, Al. 1) I need more time with the T1. My initial impression is that they need to be played LOUD. Is that consistent with your experience? So far, they sound a little dry. 2) I believe Jim sent me the ones he bought from you.
Voltron Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 I don't think I played the T1 LOUD but I don't think I played them soft much either. I agree they are pretty dry. Not a lot of soul. I think I sold Jim the K340s with the APS cable. I like the ones I have with the Headphile mods and cable even better. Those are soulful cans.
The Monkey Posted April 29, 2010 Author Report Posted April 29, 2010 Yeah, good points. I was just listening to some CCR through the K340 and John Fogerty sounded damn good--soul. FWIW, the build quality on the T1 is exceptional. Really nice, and very comfortable. Much more comfortable for my noggin than the HD800.
morphsci Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 .... I think I sold Jim the K340s with the APS cable. I like the ones I have with the Headphile mods and cable even better. Those are soulful cans. Correct. My preference also but only by a little. Absofuckinglutely.
mypasswordis Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 The K340 is pretty good after modding, but it certainly is not closed. Which is part of what makes it good. It is what I call closed-backed.
morphsci Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 ^^^ You certainly have some unique perspectives.
mypasswordis Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 You certainly have some unique ways of beating around the bush and trying to call me out without any evidence. If you think it's closed, you're wrong.
morphsci Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 Or perhaps my definition of closed is not as, err, closed.
The Monkey Posted April 29, 2010 Author Report Posted April 29, 2010 Well it's certainly moar closed then my current full sized cans.
morphsci Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 and effectively acts more like a closed headphone, as far as sound leakage, than many "trully closed" headphones. Of course without any supporting evidence or double-deaf tests.
mypasswordis Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 It's a simple matter of unscrewing the back plate and seeing that there is nothing between the drivers and the outside than said back plate, which has a gap in between, and possibly cotton if it is still in the cups. I replaced my cotton with felt.
blessingx Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 Ric, I very much look forward to your impressions of that combo. And Wayne, that's an excellent survey of the closed landscape. Thank you. As I'm in the middle of a move I haven't spent as much time with the 4070/007t as I would like, but I'll second Waynes comments. I've found my closed cans. Coming from Lambda Sigs and Lambda Nova Sigs the extra detail/texture is the first shocker. A little slam on the bottom in comparison and a much enclosed soundstage hits after. No doubt these are closed in the soundstage department. Got lost in some Everything But The Girl about ten minutes after putting them on. Still some of the Lambda etch, which I prefer to the laid back SR-007 Mk2 with vast majority most electro amps. Then add power. I was a little worried as I didn't think the SRM-007t exposed the true differences between the Lambda Sigs and previously owned Lambda Pros, but the 4070 seems to pair well here. Source differences such as Para d/ac 1600 v. Pico were shown clearly. Though I'd like to hear other amps, with the 007ts availability and going price (not to mention a few features like balance controls), I'm happy sticking at this point. As I worried my money was mostly going for the cans closed aspect only, it's great to truly get a jump in SQ over the Lambdas (several times over the differences of the various Lambdas I own or owned). They're even tempting me to get rid of the K1000 (practicality and that low end), but going to need further tests for that. I also tried the 4070/007t under flu-conditions. It sounded screechy, overly Grado-like in awkwardness and induced intense headaches. Not recommended.
