spritzer Posted May 6, 2010 Author Report Posted May 6, 2010 Yeah and a question so hard that 95% of all Icelanders would get it wrong. Reykjav
spritzer Posted May 12, 2010 Author Report Posted May 12, 2010 Here is a picture of the volcano, shot yesterday by my dad on a xrappy Kodak camera: Uploaded with ImageShack.us Here is what it is doing to the countryside...
tyrion Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 Sorry to hear it's still causing problems up there. I'm hoping it doesn't create any problems for my flight to London coming up.
HeadphoneAddict Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 (edited) Another one blows: Iceland Volcano Errupts They say it's not expected to disrupt european flights, at least for now. I hope not. My daughter is flying to Germany for 3 weeks as a school ambassador on 6/4 and I'd hate for this to screw that up for her - the whole trip is free and the flight is already booked. spritzer Posted May 22, 2011 Author Report Posted May 22, 2011 This is a different kind of lava so odds are that it won't disrupt flights to the same extent even though this is a much larger eruption. Check this picture out...

Check this picture out... It'll be so sad if her Germany trip is canceled or disrupted by this, so I'm praying you're right. She's a great kid and I'd hate for her to not go after all her hard work to win the trip.
jvlgato Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Wow, spritzer! That looks stunning and scary. I hope damage stays limited. And good luck to travelers tyrion and HPAdaughter.
Knuckledragger Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Moar volcano porn: Amazing video on Vimeo that will not embed. Also: Volcanic Ash Advisory Centres (VAAC) handy for fliers or those who know them.

spritzer Posted May 24, 2011 Author Report Posted May 24, 2011 We are fine here in the south west of Iceland. He had some ash over the last few days but nothing compared to what they are getting underneath the glacier.
Augsburger Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Wow, stay safe Birgir and no picnics for a while ehh? Hoping travel plans are not disrupted for anyone.
