blessingx Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 As Flash and Java aren't supported, we'll likely to need App Store and web-based alternatives to some apps. Thought it might be useful to have a separate thread from the iPad discussion itself in prep for the iPad arriving. Here are a couple... SketchPad Harmony And 'strech just posted...

Salt Peanuts Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 is it possible to be in love with a program? Holodeck certainly think so.
thrice Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 is it possible to be in love with a program? Yes. Yes it is.
jvlgato Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 Kinda cool. That would be cool if we saw iPads in the concert hall. Would it make page turners obsolete? Or would they still be needed to tap the screen or wave their hand in front of the infra-red sensor at the right moment?
blessingx Posted April 1, 2010 Author Report Posted April 1, 2010 I think Dinny finally has his reason to place an order...
blessingx Posted April 1, 2010 Author Report Posted April 1, 2010 Anyone else kinda excited about all the music creation/assistant apps? Here's another...

grawk Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 Netflix for iPad App Now Available in App Store - Mac Rumors
tyrion Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 Downloading 9.1 so I can start downloading apps. I am going to get the Netflix app. Any suggestions on other apps?
VPI Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 I actually picked up the iWork stuff, the ABC app, Netflix and a bunch of games.
CD44hi Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 Oh man, that netflix ap is for real. That's really cool! I am flabbergasted that apple went along with it. I think that bodes well for future aps that would otherwise be considered antagonistic to apple's interest..
n_maher Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 They probably allowed it because Netflix's options for streaming content are pretty awful. I looked on my PS3 tonight, I struggled to find anything worth watching and the lack of high-def content is a great big pile of fail. I can only hope that the iPad app will kick them in the ass to actually offer some current, desirable content.
CD44hi Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 yep, I can see that, specially the challenge of trying to stream anything (decent) over 3G. But hey, it is the principle and the attention they'll get from the usually neglected mac side of netflix...
thrice Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 Buffy, Angel and Firefly have all been added to streaming, so there's that. Awesome.... Dr. Horrible is there as well. Actually, looking through the content today... it seems like there's a lot more now than a few days ago. Maybe it's just me. Of course, we use Netflix streaming more for TV shows, not movies. In that regard, it's been well stocked.
tyrion Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 (edited) Anyone that has not seen the BBC show MI-5 should check it out. It's one of my favorite shows. The first 4 seasons on are on Netflix streaming. I use the streaming mostly for TV shows as well. I never watched Buffy or Angel so maybe now is the time. Does anyone use Rowmote Pro? It supports Amarra. Edited April 2, 2010 by tyrion
VPI Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 I have some version of Rowmote but I am not sure if it is Pro. I typically just use the free remote app as I control everything with iTunes.
CD44hi Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 I used to catch the new Dr. Who on netflix streaming, also MI5, Painkiller-Jane, (or something sounding like that, kick ass female undercover vixen or other). Some really old, cheesy tv shows, like Kolchak. Actually, I quite enjoyed, and it was sort of an added bonus at the time. I also tried the roku box with overall good results.
blessingx Posted April 2, 2010 Author Report Posted April 2, 2010 And Dragon Dictation is free for a limited time.
