n_maher Posted February 2, 2017 Report Posted February 2, 2017 Christ I want that 65" LG OLED but it's a good grand more than I want to spend right now. 5
recstar24 Posted February 2, 2017 Report Posted February 2, 2017 Same. While I love my 55" gt50 I always think back, "damn, should have got the 65"" and upgraded to the vt50 1

TMoney Posted February 2, 2017 Report Posted February 2, 2017 Now that Brent is on the executive track at his company he has pledged to put his $ where his mouth is and personally buy all products he recommends. 4
MexicanDragon Posted February 2, 2017 Report Posted February 2, 2017 In the immor(t)al words of Richard Dreyfuss(' character) in "What About Bob?": Baby steps. Though I did talk my new boss into a 65" Samsung KS8000, with the idea that it is cheap enough to use for a while until he gets his next place, and we can look at 75"+ OLED, and used the KS8000 in a secondary room. **BRENT** 1

That's basically the top contender for me and it's really difficult to double-down to get the LG considering that the Sammy would probably be a huge upgrade over the current set. 1
shellylh Posted February 2, 2017 Report Posted February 2, 2017 Ugh, my friend can't take my tv until April 1st. Guess I can put it in my junk room for a couple of months.

I tried to get him to go larger, but this is an upgrade from his 50" plasma in the space, which REALLY needed a 75"+. **BRENT**

Dusty Chalk Posted February 2, 2017 Report Posted February 2, 2017 I envy you, that you have found your true calling.
n_maher Posted February 10, 2017 Report Posted February 10, 2017 http://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2017/2/9/14559050/samsung-qled-tv-pricing I haven't seen any direct reviews vs. the OLED and will be curious how it stacks up. Price-wise it seems like the Sammy will be even more expensive.
VPI Posted February 10, 2017 Report Posted February 10, 2017 Everything I have read says the Samsung "QLED" is just marketing bullshit to try to make people think it is different than their standard screen and more like an OLED. 2
crappyjones123 Posted April 23, 2017 Report Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) Got Julie an LG B6. Saw the samsung ks8000 at best buy next to the b6 and it seemed super harsh even though it was on sale for 950. Those who also got the b6, did you have a film on top of the screen that you had to peel off? Tv we got had the yellow energy sticker on it. Just wondering why on earth they would stick that directly to the panel but I don't see a protective film. Also don't want to damage the screen from heat if there is indeed a film. Thoughts? Grahame Posted April 23, 2017 Report Posted April 23, 2017 I remember there was a film on the back of the panel (think of it as a heat sink)
Torpedo Posted April 23, 2017 Report Posted April 23, 2017 When I had the chance to compare a LG true OLED display side by side with a Samsung QLED one, I liked the LG better. Big difference IMHO. I didn't see any plastic film on them, the stickers seemed directly on the panel surface.
Whitigir Posted May 25, 2017 Report Posted May 25, 2017 My samsung plasma 1080 is still unbeatable in the color gamut and all that good stuff....well, 4K is invading the market, but not enough contents yet to justify buying 1
Hopstretch Posted May 25, 2017 Report Posted May 25, 2017 Yes, have the final generation Panasonic plasma here in the UK and it's absolutely brilliant. Will be very sad to leave behind, but am bequeathing to a good friend who will appreciate all 110 lbs of it! Moving to a G6 LG OLED in the US house and interested to see how it compares. 5
swt61 Posted May 25, 2017 Report Posted May 25, 2017 Pfffft, TVs. Once I win the lottery, I'm just going to hire original actors to come re-enact the movies in my home theater. 2
