Salt Peanuts
There's no model called Omega 2, that's just something made up, it's the SR-007 and SR-007Mk2 dammit. I'm nitpicking, but Stax actually do call SR-007 "Omega II" under their product history section.
Nebby
I'm nitpicking, but Stax actually do call SR-007 "Omega II" under their product history section. It's certainly not listed as the main title/model name, but it's definitely referenced by Stax: Open air type Earspeaker : SR-007 (OMEGAII) Specifications of SR-007 (OMEGA II) Electrostatic Earspeakers [url=http://www.stax.co.jp/Japan/sr-007J.html]
spritzer
Stax have always referred to them as O2's... spritzer: I bags first listen of your pair. I promise I wont lick drool on them. Not a chance in hell of that happening...
BoilermakerFan
Stax says it will be about 8000 Yen after Stax. It seems they have raised prices quite a bit! Wow! I guess I need to start charging more for my NOS arcs... I'll have to bump their price up to $40 each or so, plus shipping.
forbigger
until the formal name/designation come out, im going to refer to this as OOO or 000......
blessingx
I think he's talking about the ones they introduced with 404LE (and continued with 507). Anyone got a link to order replacement pads? Don't see at Audiocubes2 or Stax.
padam
You could try asking this seller as well, maybe he still has them on stock: STAX Replacement Earpads for SR-404 LIMITED EARSPEAKER - eBay (item 170537758509 end time Sep-13-10 09:44:50 PDT)

shellylh
Anyone got a link to order replacement pads? Don't see at Audiocubes2 or Stax. Bluetin Shop selling Stax EP-234Limited Earpads for SR-404 Limited and more Might be cheaper elsewhere though.
luvdunhill
Anyone know of any reason that putting a K1000 across the inputs of a step up Stax transformer (no load on the secondaries though) wouldn't A/B to the same as having the K1000 directly on the speaker amp output with no trafo box? Perhaps I'm just hearing things?
spritzer
The transformer primaries could have an effect here even with nothing connected to the Stax sockets.
graben
Bluetin Shop selling Stax EP-234Limited Earpads for SR-404 Limited and more Might be cheaper elsewhere though. Even here in Japan they are about $65 before shipping, so I would guess around $75 shipped would be fair.
Hens
I notice this AMP for sale Anyone have any clues?
spritzer
It's the same design as this one. Far cry from the BH/T2's of this world...
deepak
My prediction for the new Omega price- Japan $3500 plus or minus couple hundred, USA around $4500. USD is pretty weak and I don't see it improving in a couple of weeks so the Japan price could be higher...
Deadneddz
And for all of us addicted to Stax, it means however high they decide to set the price....we will pay.

I guess they did just update the 02, I didn't consider that this could be a whole 'nother level. I'll tell you what excites me, is that this one will fit my head, unlike the O2. won't fit my wallet, but maybe my head.

It is hard to say since the Omega line has so few models whether Stax will replace or add the new Omega to the lineup.
morphsci
For some strange reason, I am not really interested in this new beast. That will probably change.
spritzer
This is indeed a new, more expensive Omega. It's not a replacement for the SR-007.
forbigger
i say OOO price range will be 2.5 - 3k. Anything beyond that i would consider as madness. But aint we all are?

BoilermakerFan
Spritzer, I saw the new SR-003 link, but do you know what changes were made to it? It looks identical to the previous model. I'm hoping my 001 cable will work with them so I can mod the amp and have the 003s as a portable and home setup with custom molded tips. spritzer
I'd have to see the SR-003 up close but the plug works well so I don't see any need to change it. There are also not that many options in such a tiny system...
