spritzer Posted October 14, 2018 Report Posted October 14, 2018 For me the issue is paying so much for 009's. I might get one and offload some of my other sets or just have a 009 anodized black...
SeaWolf Posted October 14, 2018 Report Posted October 14, 2018 I think the timing on the black 009 is just not optimal for me. Maybe next month.. Or keep an eye on the classifieds for the next year or so and pick it up for a slight premium over the normal used 009.
Tachikoma Posted October 20, 2018 Report Posted October 20, 2018 Could someone check whether the SR-404's headband fits on the Lambda Nova Signature? I broke my headband and need a replacement

Tachikoma Posted October 20, 2018 Report Posted October 20, 2018 Thanks! Now to find a place that actually stocks these things.
Jonny Posted October 21, 2018 Report Posted October 21, 2018 Did anyone test a sr-009 with a srm-t1 and what is the problem by listening in low volume level?
wink Posted October 21, 2018 Report Posted October 21, 2018 If the level is too low, you don't hear nuffin'.........

Please, read this and try to slow down (or simply cut off) your asking silly things.
gepardcv Posted October 21, 2018 Report Posted October 21, 2018 Monoprice posted a product page for a $700 electrostatic system: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=33455. No description or specs, but the pictures look like that might be a Stax plug...
kevin gilmore Posted October 21, 2018 Report Posted October 21, 2018 does not look like a stax plug to me, it has a shield around it. definitely really cheap for headphones and amplifier.
HemiSam Posted October 21, 2018 Report Posted October 21, 2018 Monoprice does a reasonably good job of providing value for money. I doubt it would meet the expectations of many Stax aficionados here, but I bet the value for money is reasonable. Build quality is hit and miss with them, but by the look of it in the pics it's not too shabby. HS
spritzer Posted October 21, 2018 Report Posted October 21, 2018 Fucking hell... I'll buy one. How bad can it be...famous last words.. Funny how they can do a proper 6 core flat ribbon cable at this price but Hifiman can't do it on a 50k$ product... 4 5
purk Posted October 22, 2018 Report Posted October 22, 2018 Seem like a better designed product than the Koss ESP950. Koss offers a lifetime warranty though.
spritzer Posted October 22, 2018 Report Posted October 22, 2018 It looks really flimsy to me and now that Massdrop is selling the ESP950, it is a much cheaper alternative. I also wonder if that thing is really an amp or just a passive adapter. Easy enough to build tiny transformers with high ratio so you can use it with normal headphone amps but without pretty much any pictures...hard to tell.
kevin gilmore Posted October 22, 2018 Report Posted October 22, 2018 something screams kingsound to me for both the amp and the headphones. built in battery pack, usb charging, 1/8 input jack.
spritzer Posted October 22, 2018 Report Posted October 22, 2018 Sure looks like it and let's just bask in the glory of the M-03... 1
ktm Posted October 22, 2018 Report Posted October 22, 2018 I saw a pair of sr-80 square earpads for sale. Supposed to be new. I'll have to look when I get home, but doesn't the sr-80 pads sticky tape on? These appear to mount differently? I haven't pulled mine out for a while.

I seem to remember there being a lip on these but I'm not sure. It's been a long time since I've taken apart SR-80's... 5 hours ago, aetheriality said: i hope the srm d10 doesnt look like that No but it's not a gem either, it uses HV opamps and some really nasty parts as well. This compared to the Shure KSE1500 amp which is really, really nice. 1
kevin gilmore Posted October 23, 2018 Report Posted October 23, 2018 The problem with the D10 is that the power supply voltages are +/-175v so it clips pretty easy into standard sized headphones. The shure is very nice but power supply voltages are +/-200. Which works great on the supplied earbuds but would have trouble with standard sized headphones. 1
spritzer Posted October 23, 2018 Report Posted October 23, 2018 Yup, that is a real issue if we were to make adapters for the Shure to drive other designs but I still have to try the phones on some normal bias stuff.

Were there measurements of width and length, more pairs available? Could maybe fit U70.
ktm Posted October 23, 2018 Report Posted October 23, 2018 (edited) two pairs for sale, no measurements. They did carry on at length that they were original and not knock offs. Just peeled up one side of the pad. They look to be correct. The lips fold under and adhere to the headphone, forming a pocket for the foam? Mine is long gone, but that looks to be its purpose. This is the 1st sets of sr80 new pads I've ever seen. I guess I should drop the $40. This ain't happening again anytime soon. Edited October 24, 2018 by ktm Update
