DefQon Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 I tried searching for the relevant results of 6c p power tubes and all I got was multiple references to porn sites. That said I think its supposed to say Matched at the end rather then Marcheo or (Marched). The glass envelope reminds me of the GU50 type tubes.
Dave R Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 (edited) Because the cover I've enquired about is for my 009's, which is actually a case, I thought it more suited to do a post on this thread rather than the BHSE. I asked the place that already did for me a cover for my BHSE, about one of their cases that has an aluminium frame with acrylic panels fixed into that frame, and they told me one with an aluminium frame would be £250 +, but said they could do an all acrylic case that would be a lot cheaper. So I've asked them to do me one of those but with one of their " Flat Black Bases ". Edited April 15, 2016 by Dave R

It could be a GU50 or something like a 6V6 etc. Chinese equivalent.
DefQon Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 How long usually is shipping from China to Iceland on your end? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
spritzer Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 About 20 days or so. Just got a confirmation that they've ordered the amp.
joehpj Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 The seller says 2 weeks for him to make the amp and you have to tell him if you want stax plug. The defult one looked like senn plug.
spritzer Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 It's actually a Lemo plug (most definitely a clone though) but I did have them ask for a Stax socket. Are there any other electrostatic amps on TaoBao that I might have fun with? I can search for Stax but that only brings up the KGSS clones and the tube amp by the same guy
joehpj Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 As you wish. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.298.PqovhL&id=38940067507&ns=1&abbucket=6#detail King sound!!!!!! This is the only one I found you maybe don't know. Others are A10, Audiovalve. Already ripped. Will report if I find more in the future.
spritzer Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Ahh the M10, a bad clone of the Stax SRA-10/12S... Please report if you find anything as I love this stuff. We also haven't ripped apart anything in a while which just can't do. 1
GeorgeP Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 there's this: http://knob.planet.ee/amps/staxneb1/staxneb1.htm
spritzer Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 It's just a butchered GES, nothing interesting.
DefQon Posted April 16, 2016 Report Posted April 16, 2016 Ah man I had about 10 different electrostatic amplifier listings from taobao and YJ last year. Here's a few I found: https://world.taobao.com/item/40220072535.htm?spm=a312a.7700714.0.0.oQa1da#detail https://world.taobao.com/item/36525626565.htm?spm=a312a.7728556.2015080705.15.CaD5hZ&id=36525626565&scm=1007.12006.12548.i16100094413&pvid=9bd1ca27-b0fc-4243-9139-5571d24030e0 I've had this one on my watchlist for over 3 years now and I quite like the look of it (and very close to buying one in the past): https://world.taobao.com/item/16100094413.htm?spm=a312a.7700714.0.0.oQa1da#detail 1

spritzer Posted April 16, 2016 Report Posted April 16, 2016 I bought the cheapest one and it is a crap version of the KGSS. Plenty of info about it here somewhere
microCuts Posted April 17, 2016 Report Posted April 17, 2016 Hi All, I am looking to buy an used SR-007 mk1 which is considered the best in Stax community. Some one offering me with the SR-007 SZ1 not the one with serial number 7xxxx I am not sure is this the "Best" version of the 007. Is this worth to get? Thanks!
spritzer Posted April 18, 2016 Report Posted April 18, 2016 Personally I'd just get a new SR-007A as it is better and a lot less potential issues to deal with. If you want a 007Mk1 then I'd personally stay away from the SZ1 units as they can be a mixed bag. Some are good but others not so. Ohh and what ever the fuck that Shure 'stat system... the new JH13...
microCuts Posted April 18, 2016 Report Posted April 18, 2016 Hi Spritzer, May I know what is the potential issue that I may face from a SZ1? This is the Serial number that seller offering me. SZ1-1089. Not sure if you guys has any idea on this batch. Thanks. I had actually auditioned SR009, SR007 mkII, and SRL700 from a SRM007tii. L700 is a baby version of SR009 but the bass is abit soft and lack of extension that I always enjoy of. SR009 is perfect for me but its so pricey that holding me back. SR007 mkII is warm and thicked sound which is quite enjoyable in certain gerne especially vocal. I owned a SRM007tii too due to great used price but do not have a stax headphone with me now. I know its a mediorce amp but I can mod it to use 6A4S tubes. I have two matched pairs 6A4S I planned to mod in future. SR007 mk1 is the only one I have not listened to before therefore buying a used pair is almost like betting blindly. Need some advice from experts here. 40% Rocks (Post Rock / Alternative Rock) 30% Vocals (Pop / Acoustic) 15% Jazz 15% Electronica + some weird stuff.
DefQon Posted April 18, 2016 Report Posted April 18, 2016 I enjoyed the MK1 with metal and some rock. The MK2's mid bass hump was a little overwhelming on some music. Spritzer what is the serial number range with the new 007A? 1
catscratch Posted April 18, 2016 Report Posted April 18, 2016 The main issue I had with my 007 mk1, which was either a 70xxx or 71xxx, don't remember, was the intermittency that eventually developed in one side, and is a known problem with insufficient strain relief around the cable attachment. So asking if either channel is ever intermittent would be #1, and I would also ask what the age of the pads is, as the foam can deteriorate pretty quickly. Otherwise, they're pretty robust afaik. My Mk 2.9 007A has a SZ2 serial number. It is a bit brighter than the Mk1 and is notably more dynamic but also not quite as smooth. FWIW I like it a lot... 1
spritzer Posted April 18, 2016 Report Posted April 18, 2016 Well serial numbers on Stax stuff mean less than nothing. They aren't linear and they flip between the ranges at will. The only exception might be the 009 but there is no way to know for sure. All Mk1's have the same issues, cable entry is a weak point, the elastic in the headpad will give out and the earpad foam will not last. The older sets have their own issues as Stax used a different material in the headpads and arcs which becomes rather tatty with age. The Mk2's fixed all of this and for me the new EP-007 pads are the best Stax have ever done. Not the fucking disaster which are the 009 earpads. Don't get me started on that clusterfuck... 1
microCuts Posted April 18, 2016 Report Posted April 18, 2016 Hi Master Spritzer, I roughly went through Ebay and found some of the parts for 007 but not sure if they are compatible with the old 007 mk1? The accessories is not cheap though Another very specific and difficult question. How long for a brand new pair 007 mk1 to have the parts worn out? The product photo sent by my seller seems quite mint. He includes me a spare new pad as well. Having stax amp sitting there without headphone is killing me... 1
spritzer Posted April 18, 2016 Report Posted April 18, 2016 All Mk2 parts will fit the Mk1 007 but they will all be different color. That's simply the Stax way of doing things... Impossible to tell how long a set will last, way, way too many variables. 1
microCuts Posted April 18, 2016 Report Posted April 18, 2016 Sounds like the weak cable entry is the only issue which is unfix-able. Still have no decisions yet though. But at least I know a new SR-009 is more future proof. Thank you all of you!
nopants Posted April 18, 2016 Report Posted April 18, 2016 what are your problems with the 009 pads? I like them with the 007, with a little padding in the back. I think the ep007 pads have better construction though
