mypasswordis Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 I don't remember any midrange shouting either, but I'll have to give it a listen again. Wasn't too fond of it the first time I heard it... :/ That new Lambda is just a 404LE with a slightly different arc assembly that is nowhere near as nice as the 4070's. Maybe there are some improvements on the inside...
ujamerstand Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 That price tag... 39 000 TWD = 1 231 USD = 1 268 CAD It looks like I won't be having any buyer's remorse for my SR-404. lol
The Monkey Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 Except that you should have purchased the O2.
Salt Peanuts Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 Except that you should have purchased the O2. And 4070. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
mrarroyo Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 Birgir, the Lambda Pro I got from you sounds superb! Others that listen to it at the Fort Myers Meet thought the same. However I read a lot of posts that would make me think the Lambda Pro are not very good, what am I missing? Thanks.
deepak Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 (edited) I like the look of that new arc assembly, sort of cyber punkish. Edited August 8, 2010 by deepak
spritzer Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 Birgir, the Lambda Pro I got from you sounds superb! Others that listen to it at the Fort Myers Meet thought the same. However I read a lot of posts that would make me think the Lambda Pro are not very good, what am I missing? Thanks. The Lambda Pro is very, very good but I prefer the original SR-Lambda, Nova Signature over all. My issues with the L-Pro are the slightly uneven bass and treble response plus the midrange is a bit recessed. Without direct comparisons to the other models you would have a hard time spotting these but they are there.
Cynric Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 But don't you miss anything from the technical point of view between those? To me the deep-bass of the Lambda Pro extends quite a lot more than that of the normal Lambda; but from memory (has been a few months since we compared them side-by-side) that was the only apparent real difference. Not speaking of frequency response here (that is always personal taste), just technical capabilities... Don't remember too much of the LNS, did not like their sound back when I heard them so I did spend too much time with those..
mypasswordis Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 The Lambda Pro does indeed sound quite close to the NB Lambda, with a slightly exaggerated but also more extended bass and treble that you wouldn't otherwise spot unless you had a NB Lambda to compare. The difference in extension wasn't too big in my opinion, between the NB and Pro, though I haven't heard either in awhile.
HeadphoneAddict Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 If I recall correctly, I was having to add 3db in the 250 - 500 or 1000hz range via EQ to enjoy the Lambda pro properly. That was 2008 so I'm a little fuzzy on the exact amount.
jjinh Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 From the pics it looks like these new SR-507s have the 404LE cable and earpads... looks like the leather lambda earpads will remain on sale - that makes me happy! I dont really like the chrome button on the side.
padam Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Frequency Responce: 7-41,000Hz Impedance: 145kohm at 10kHz Responcibility: 101dB(100Vrms,1kHz) Maximum SPL: 118dB at 400Hz Weight: 388g / 533g(Include headphone cable) [url=http://avic.livedoor.biz/archives/51512176.html]
padam Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 73500 yen and it's yours if I saw it right. They say new materials in the drivers (not surprising). I'd rather be interested in a fully black Sigma 507
Salt Peanuts Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 They say new materials in the drivers (not surprising). Yep, with same (or similar) earpads and cabling as 404LTD. The headband now had 10-step adjustment - I'm wondering how well the new headband will fit those with gigantic head. I think want. It won't go on sale until 9/1/10 - you've got plenty of time to save up for them.
Salt Peanuts Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Speaking of new product, I just noticed on Stax Japan site that they've stopped making SR-001Mk2 system. Has anyone heard whether or not they're replacing the portable system with something new or are they just pulling out of the portable market entirely? I apologize if this has been covered in this thread previously.
spritzer Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Crap, crap, crap!!!! Most certainly a new driver design so I have to buy one... Rumor has it that Stax will indeed release a new portable system but I have no details on it...
Salt Peanuts Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Another thing about SR-507 - all the Japanese press releases/web tidbits seem to indicate they're using different/new housing materials. Doesn't go into specifics, though.
spritzer Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Could be the baffle (normally aluminum) or some new form of plastic for the frame. Stax did the same with the 1987 Signature but never indicated what the change really was...
mypasswordis Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Cool news, I'll be interested in impressions from Birgir/whoever gets one. IMO this is the ugliest black Lambda to date, though.
The Monkey Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Birigr, can you think of any significance to the model number? Does Stax follow any specific naming convention?
padam Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Is this a factory repaired SR-X Mk3? Never seen one with a flat cable by default. Stax ★ ★ SR-X MARK3
Salt Peanuts Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Is this a factory repaired SR-X Mk3? Never seen one with a flat cable by default. Stax ★ ★ SR-X MARK3 FWIW, Stax site states they don't repair SR-X Mk3's cable assembly. Also, the auction says that they don't know if the cans work or not since they don't have a way of checking that.
spritzer Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Birigr, can you think of any significance to the model number? Does Stax follow any specific naming convention? I think this is just random or it could somehow factor into some new model scheme they are working on. I have no idea where the 4070 came from... Is this a factory repaired SR-X Mk3? Never seen one with a flat cable by default. Stax ★ ★ SR-X MARK3 I dunno but I placed a bid anyway...
Les_Garten Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Perhaps they were secretly bought by Peugeot? I'm not sure that would be positive...
