forbigger Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 folks, IF.......and once again IF you have the freedom to choose ,which route you will be going first, upgrade from kgss to either WES or BHSE or upgrade the headphone to O2? :palm: Damn, i only have 404LE for 3 days, GODDAM 3 days guys......and I already have these thought. I really wanted to cry
The Monkey Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 Does anyone know if there's a Stax dealer in or around NYC?
luvdunhill Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Been meaning to try some MK2 pads so maybe that will push me to do so. do it man!
spritzer Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Ditto, I will never go back to the Mk1 pads.
n3rdling Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Hrm...are they really that much more comfy? Does anybody know a suitable foam that could be placed inside the O2 earpads that wouldn't wear down as quickly as the stock foam?
Deadneddz Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Didn't you try the MK2 in the Woo Audio room @ CJ? To me they were a lot more comfortable.
n3rdling Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 I can't even remember anymore, that was a while back and I wasn't really paying attention to the fit differences.
spritzer Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 It's more to do with the thicker leather and the different design then the slightly stiffer foam.
mypasswordis Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Oh, so the foams on the Mk1 pads wear down fast? Is there an easy way to open up the pads and make copies of the foams before they wear down? Also are there any changes in sound between the Mk1 and Mk2 pads?
spritzer Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 The Omega pads are easy to open, the leather is just rolled over the foam. See here. On the SR-007 you get a bit more punch in the bass and most of all, you sweat a lot less with the Mk2 pads.
mypasswordis Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Cool, thanks for the link to the pics! Very informative. And at the price that I got Vincent's Mk1 pads, I'm not at all complaining. Even though I did not spend very long with O2 Mk1's at any given time, I did not seem to find sweat build-up a problem but extended listening may change that.
spritzer Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 After an hour or so sweat can start to build up (even up here in the cold) but no sweat with the Mk2 pads.
cetoole Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Curse you all for making me consider buying new pads, even though I have never found the mk1 ones sweaty! Ah well, at least it would let me use my then to be spare mk1 pads on various other headphones.
deepak Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 (edited) The foam does compress rather quickly in the mk1 pads. I put a new pair on mine shortly after buying the headphones and the pads needed to be replaced in slightly over a year. Though the O2 were pretty much the only thing I listened to in that time. edit: coming up on my two year anniversary of O2 mk1 ownership Edited March 24, 2010 by deepak
The Monkey Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 Has anyone been in touch with Craig (kuboten) in the last few days? I emailed a couple of days ago and have not heard back.
Deadneddz Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 I've been in contact with Craig lately, but hes been a little slower with response to emails because hes in the process of moving. He'll get back to you soon enough.
The Monkey Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 Cool, thanks. I wantz me some mk2 padz!
Deadneddz Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 I sent an email to Craig about this. If anything comes of it perhaps we can start a thread in the group buy forum. I can already think of quite a few member here that would be potentially interested.
Smeggy Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 Want me some Mk2 paddings If it goes down, I'm in like Flynn!
The Monkey Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 Although isn't a group buy the exact type of thing that Stax tries hard to prevent to protect its dealers?
